The Communications and Marketing Specialist for the College of Letters, Arts & Sciences co-leads major projects and key initiatives for the College related to student recruitment and strategic enrollment. Main areas of responsibilities include 1) communications and marketing, 2) digital content maintenance and management, 3) events, programs and initiatives, and 4) social media and 5) additional duties. This position will work collaboratively with CLAS Deans and internal team members, CLAS Departments, CLAS Centers, Institutes and Programs and across divisions as well as serve as a liaison between the College and University Communications and Marketing. This position will report to the CLAS Assistant Dean for Operations.

Responsibilities
· Communications and Marketing (25%) – Refines and executes existing College communications and marketing plans; creates individualized and tailored marketing plans for current and prospective students to improve enrollment and retention within CLAS disciplines; helps develop marketing materials for the College, Departments and Centers, Institutes and Programs; manages internal SharePoint sites and communication forms; responsible for checking and responding to general inboxes; produces internal and external communications including newsletters, publications, press releases, blogs, etc.; ensures all strategies and campaigns align with College and University branding; employs communication and marketing strategies that ignite College and University engagement.
· Digital Content Maintenance and Management (25%) – Maintains the College website and supports Departments and Centers, Institutes and Programs on website maintenance and management; leads College-wide efforts on website optimization and compliance with Colorado Laws (such as the Colorado Law for Persons with Disabilities (HB21-1110)); responds to all digital content service requests (including consultations, reviews, development, redesigns); serves as main resource, trainer and support person for department web authors; ensures digital content adheres to College and University branding.
· Events, Programs and Initiatives (20%) – Leads all planning efforts for College events ensuring events, programs and initiatives are planned, coordinated and presented professionally; provides support for Departments related to events and programming; helps with developing creative and innovative events and programming that meets needs of College constituents; event planning duties include managing event budgets, arranging catering, venues, and cleaning services, preparing agendas and run-of-show, overseeing travel arrangements, preparing and disseminating professional communications regarding events and programs, and organizing planning committees, data tracking and reporting.
· Social Media (20%) – Manages the College’s social media marketing plan and adjusts when needed; develops individualized and tailored social media marketing plans for Departments, Centers, Institutes and Programs; social media management duties include creating content for the College’s accounts, setting goals, increasing user engagement, data tracking and reporting.
· Additional Duties (10%) – May include hiring, training and supervising student staff members (both work study and/or student hourly); responding to service requests and marketing, branding, communications, and/or design tasks; serving and leading team meetings and/or relevant College and University committees.
Required Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, business or related field
· Demonstrated experience working on a team
· Ability to meet project milestones and key deliverables
· Proficient with web content management platforms including WordPress
· Demonstrated communications, social media, and large event planning experience
· Understands the basic concepts of equity, inclusion, and justice

Salary for Announcement
Under Colorado law, MSU Denver is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role and should not offer a salary outside of the range posted in this job announcement. This range takes into account a variety of factors including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $55,000.00-$62,400.00
This position is paid monthly and is eligible for MSU Denver benefits.
