Communications and Community Investment Manager

Principal Duties and Responsibilities Duties:

CEO Communications and Office of the CEO Liaison

In partnership with the VP, Communications, support the CEO communications strategy and manage tactical execution with a focus on our clients, team members, and community. As a liaison between the CEO and internal and external stakeholders, this role is a key part of the team that ensures messaging is consistent and aligned with Element’s Purpose and ensures we maintain transparency, foster collaboration, and build trust with partners, team members, and the public.

  • Execute best-in-class CEO communications and develop engaging content in key topic areas across various channels.
  • Support all aspects of the CEO's external communications including media relations, public appearances, and thought leadership opportunities.
  • Alongside the VP, Communications align messaging across all platforms and ensure that the CEO's communications are consistent with Element’s Purpose and strategy. This partnership is essential for delivering cohesive and impactful communications.
  • Partner with the CEO's Executive Assistant to ensure seamless communication and coordination within the office of the CEO. This collaboration is vital for managing schedules, prioritizing communications, and maintaining efficiency in CEO operations.
  • Enhance the effectiveness of the office of the CEO, expertly manage change, and role model operational excellence.
  • Measure, analyze, and report on the performance of communications initiatives; develop measurement plans and make recommendations for improvement based on insights, best practices, and business objectives.
  • Develop, track, and set direction for communications programs to ensure seamless delivery.

Corporate Sponsorship and Community Engagement

Alongside VP, Communications, support the development and implementation of the next phase of our Corporate Sponsorship strategy with our Purpose as the guide. This role will play a key role in deepening and building strong connections with the community, focusing on new community partnerships and the CEO’s Board .

  • Identify and evaluate potential sponsorship opportunities that align with our Purpose and strategic objectives.
  • Oversee the implementation of sponsorship activities, ensuring that sponsor expectations are met and enhance our brand visibility.
  • Develop and execute activation plans that maximize our engagement and presence at events, including opportunities for team member engagement.
  • Plan and launch our new Employee Match Program
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive plan for communicating our partnerships, focusing on showcasing the value and impact of these collaborations to both internal and external audiences.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations showcasing the benefits and successes of the partnership, highlighting key metrics, and achievements.
  • Manage an annual sponsorship budget that aligns with the company's financial objectives and strategic priorities.
  • Monitor and reconcile all sponsorship-related expenses to ensure adherence to the approved budget.
  • Provide regular financial reports to senior management detailing budget usage, variances, and financial outcomes of sponsorship activities.

Team Management

As a senior member of the Communications team, provide support to junior team members.

Position Requirements — Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing or related field
  • 5+ years of Corporate Communications experience, as well experience managing corporate sponsorship: navigating matrixed organizations; driving culture change; leading and influencing others with limited authority.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with senior leadership on the development and communication of large-scale strategies and transformation work.
  • Strong business acumen (demonstrated by communications that are consistently prioritized and driven by business demand).
  • Strong project management and organization skills with a fine attention for the details.
  • A partnership mindset with effective negotiation and influencing skills to drive collaborative decision making and resolve conflicts.

The hiring base salary range for this position is $92,100 - $126,610 CAD annually. Actual compensation within this range will be dependent upon the individual’s knowledge, skills, experience, equity with other team members, and alignment with market data.
