Job Summary

As a Communication Systems Engineer at Aetos Systems will be responsible for researching, designing, developing, testing, and overseeing the installation of electrical communication systems as a member of the AEGIS Communications team at Kennedy Space Center, including Transmissions, Voice, and Imagery systems and supporting cable infrastructure, as required.

This is a represented salaried position with the IBEW Union.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Partner with customer and AEGIS communications team members to design and implement network systems for flight hardware processing facilities, Launch Control Center, and associated field locations in support of Kennedy Space Center launch processing operations. Kennedy Space Center.
  • Successfully apply electrical, mechanical and computer science engineering standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques.
  • Develop configuration of various communications system components, including but not limited to: Network Switches, Servers, Domain Controllers, Media convertors, Voice and PA systems, and associated hardware and support equipment.
  • Research and define "Off the Shelf" solutions supporting system development.
  • Collaborate with customer and AEGIS Product Teams to meet system requirements.
  • Develop material and labor estimates to meet project requirements.
  • Order materials and components that meet system specifications.
  • Follow through with Manufacturers and Suppliers to meet project deadlines.
  • Coordinate with Drafting team members to develop and maintain detailed system drawings.
  • Develop and oversee execution of component and system Acceptance Test Procedures, Functional Test Procedures and Operational Instructions.
  • Provide real-time viable solutions to emergent issues as required.
  • Execute work under general supervision.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of Engineering principles and technologies.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and computer administration.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with ability to pass a NASA background investigation.
  • Must be able to pass an initial and random drug testing.
  • Must have and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.

Education and Experience

  • Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an engineering program accredited by ABET.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology from an engineering program and two (2) years of Engineering Experience.

OR

  • ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.

Physical Requirements

  • Normally works in an environmentally controlled setting.
  • Occasionally works at customer sites to include outdoors.
  • Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
