The Commercial Optimization Sr you will be responsible for optimizing our revenue streams within the geographic footprint of an assigned market area for our eastern interstate pipeline, in addition to cultivating and maintaining joint venture (JV) partnerships across Williams. This includes coordinating with the Pipeline Control and Commercial organizations to support, develop and implement controls to optimize utilization of services in an effort to increase revenue. This role will also conduct Critical Day tasks to update our 1line system on any changes required to address operational conditions.
Responsibilities/Expectations:- Determines services impacted when system capacity is limited due to unplanned outages or when flow dynamics are predicted to change and responsible for Critical Day tasks in 1line
- Supports, develops and implements controls to better predict customer imbalances and utilization of services
- Coordinates with internal partners on tariff changes and expansion project implementation as well as coordination of facility abandonments
- Represents Williams on management committee, overall governance and commercial business for JV assets; works with JV partners to pursue revenue optimization
- Supports gas control in short and long-term planning to ensure firm obligations are met and revenue streams are optimized
- Develops tariff modifications, coordinates across market centers, defines business requirements and trains Commercial Services Reps on changes to business practices
- Evaluates market for opportunities to generate revenue through Park and Loan and Short Term Firm activity
- Establishes and develops customer relationships to help drive business opportunities
- Other duties as assigned
- Required: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering or related field; a minimum of five (5) years of experience in the energy industry
- Preferred: Master's degree; familiarity with contractual and tariff provisions
- Demonstrates outstanding organizational and interpersonal skills and safety as the utmost priority
- Proficiency in Microsoft Applications and PC skills
- Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial documents and agreements, such as standard and non-standard transportation and storage agreements, facilities and interconnect agreements memorandum of understanding, tariff, data requests, etc.
- Strong analytic skills to identify process improvements, trends and predictive behavior
- Experience establishing commercial contacts at appropriate levels throughout the industry
- Proprietary understanding of how natural gas challenges and complements alternative sources of energy
- Experience leading cross-functional project teams focused on commercial operations
- Extensive knowledge of the specific business needs and challenges of our customers and in-depth understanding of most aspects of commercial systems
