Job Description
The Commercial Operations Specialist is principally responsible for providing support to the LGC Diagnostics and Genomics commercial team in order to ensure smooth business operations. Individual will play a key role in supporting Salesforce implementation and to support commercial operations functions to facilitate efficient data processes, data integrations, and reporting. In this position the individual will participate as part of a cross-functional team providing broad operational day-to-day support of tools and systems that are critical for our sales process. Responsibilities will focus on streamlining and scaling sales operations activities to serve our growing customer base effectively and efficiently.
The Commercial Operations Specialist is expected to effectively contribute to cross-functional collaboration and coordination to comply with all laws, regulations, policies, and procedures that govern our business globally. The individual is expected to comply with all company quality management system policies and procedures. This position is very dynamic and requires both focus and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each of the following essential functions satisfactorily.
Support Saleforce.com Implementation
- Act as the primary Salesforce.com point of contact for D&G Commercial Sales team end users
- Manage first level CRM support and consulting for sales related initiatives, including working with the global CRM team on development, testing, and implementation of changes
- Participate in regularly scheduled meetings with the global CRM team representing commercial sales
- Create, improve, implement and enforce sales operational processes, governance and policies to drive consistent and measurable success in the Sales organization
- Documents and maintains procedures to run reports and storage of information.
- Participate in the implementation and reporting of analytics surrounding forecasts, pipelines and opportunity value as required
- Train Commercial Sales team by creating and tailoring training materials to support training needs – ensuring all training materials are sound in terms of structure, flow, content, coverage and complexity level
- Participate in meetings with sales leadership and other stakeholders to review and discuss trends, issues and opportunities; explaining reports and presenting findings (e.g., issues, opportunities, trends, forecasts); making recommendations and opinions on how to overcome obstacles and improve business results; and gathering feedback from all sources to improve sales data and reporting activities (e.g., additional KPIs to report on).
Commercial Operations Support
- Support master data management efforts; ensuring data cleanliness
- Assist with Contract Administration, including coordinating contract renewal execution with the Contract Administrator to ensure all agreements are processed timely, pricing parameters are correctly documented, and pricing entered in ERP system.
- Respond to customer specific pricing conflicts; researching where conflicts reside and correcting as needed.
- Support sales operational processes, governance and policies to drive consistent and measurable success in the Sales organization; documents process and work instructions that clearly communicates processes and/or requirements
- Work closely with internal departments (i.e. Operations, Shipping, Customer Service, etc.) to coordinate key initiatives in support of the customer and to achieve superior customer satisfaction
- Act as a change agent within the division, to drive continuous improvement and establish best practices for the commercial organization
- Assist customer service or sales teams in day-to-day activities such as preparing quotes, agreements, sample follow-up, cross selling, new product discussions, and channel support
- Conscientiously learn and follow the requirements of the company’s ISO quality management system
- Perform other duties as required to meet business needs
Qualifications
Education/Experience/Licenses/Certifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate degree in business administration or related field
- 2+ years of analysis experience in large global implementations of Salesforce.com.
- Proficiency in Salesforce administrative tasks including, and not limited to: Profiles, roles, security, workflows, validation rules, reports, and dashboards
- Experience in commercial sales
- Experience in contract support
- 2-3 years hands on experiences with using Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and advanced Excel (Pivot Tables, Grouping, Data Validation, Vlookup are essential)
- Project management experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills complemented with the ability to provide presentations and communications to a variety of audiences
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sales or related field
- Salesforce.com Administrator Certification preferred.
- Industry experience (life sciences, biotech) or experience working in a global organization preferred
