The Commercial Manager, Japan (West) is responsible for Abcam’s business in Japan (West). They are expected to grow revenue and awareness of Abcam’s broad product range, focusing on Channel Partner management (Japanese Sub-Dealers), with a secondary focus on direct customers and KOL engagement.
This position reports to the Commercial General Manager, JAPAC, and is part of the JAPAN Marketing & Sales Team, with team members located across the JAPAN and JAPAC region.
This role will be fully remote, based in the West of Japan, ideally in Kyoto or Osaka.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Annual Business Planning: Co-create a business plan for Japan to deliver Revenue growth
- Channel Partner Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with key Sub Dealers in Japan, ensuring delivery of joint annual business goals and sales targets
- Performance Monitoring & Reporting: Track distributor performance against KPIs through regular reviews and analyze sales data, providing insights to optimize sales
- End Customer: Working with end customers & KOLs to generate awareness & demand
- Training, Compliance & Governance: Provide training and support to distributor sales teams, ensuring product knowledge and brand consistency and adherence to company policies, ethics, and compliance guidelines
The essential requirements of the job include:
- Degree or MSc in Biology or related fields
- Strong knowledge of the Japanese market dynamics, business regulations, and Japanese Sub Dealer networks to drive growing Revenue and competitive differentiation
- Excellent consensus building skills and ability to navigate indirect decision making hierarchies to manage the customer interface and relationship, both at the scientific end-user level and procurement level.
- Have strong oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal, relationship building and presentation skills in English and Japanese
- Strong record of collaboration with Japanese Marketing & Sales teams, Customer Support teams, Finance, Supply Chain & Digital
Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
- Ability to travel 25% of the time across Japan and occasionally within the JAPAC region
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
- Have a global perspective and enjoy collaboration with senior leaders, in particular the Global Leadership Team as well as the JAPAC Regional Marketing & Sales Teams
- Possess a high degree of work ethic and professional transparency
