As we continue to grow our Australian operations, we are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to provide strategic commercial leadership across key contracts and projects.

The Role

Reporting to senior leadership, the Commercial Manager will play a pivotal role in driving commercial performance, managing contractual risk, and supporting sustainable business growth across our Australian operations.

This position will partner closely with operational, project delivery, finance, procurement, and legal teams to ensure projects are commercially successful, contractually compliant, and aligned with EnerMech’s strategic objectives.

Role Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the commercial strategy and performance of projects and contracts across Australia.
  • Provide commercial guidance and support to operational and project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review, negotiate, and administer client and subcontractor contracts, ensuring commercial risks are identified and effectively managed.
  • Monitor project budgets, forecasting, margins, and cash flow performance, identifying opportunities for cost optimisation and improved profitability.
  • Develop and implement commercial governance processes, systems, and best practices to support compliance and accountability.
  • Support tendering and business development activities, including pricing strategies, contract reviews, and commercial risk assessments.
  • Build and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships to support long-term partnerships and repeat business opportunities.
  • Prepare and present commercial reports, financial analyses, and performance insights to senior management.
  • Mentor and support commercial and project personnel to strengthen commercial capability across the business.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian legislative, contractual, and corporate governance requirements.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally be an established Commercial Manager with pre-dominantly an estimating background. Below are the requirements we have for the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Finance, Engineering, Law, or a related discipline.
  • 7–10+ years’ experience in commercial management within the energy, mining, oil & gas, engineering, or industrial services sectors.
  • Experience in managing/mentoring a team
  • Strong knowledge of Australian contract law, commercial frameworks, and risk management practices.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex contracts such as EPC, maintenance, shutdown, or service agreements.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and performance analysis.
  • Proven negotiation and stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence outcomes at all levels.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building capabilities.
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and commercial/ERP systems.
  • Understanding of Australian WHS and compliance requirements is highly regarded.
