The Marketing Manager is tasked to work with Producers and insurance company underwriters in securing competitive quotes and coverages for new business. Findings are to be presented by the Producers to prospective clients. The Marketing Manager also manages staff and workflow within the Marketing Department, ensuring timely and accurate work is produced. The position requires exercising of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.

Essential Tasks:

Market new accounts as priority and renewal accounts as needed

  • Review copies of policies and prospective client application information provided by Producers to properly discuss account strategy, potential markets, coverages needed and target pricing.
  • Prepare complete and thorough submissions for accounts, including loss summaries, vehicle / driver / property schedules, and any other pertinent data needed to obtain a thorough quote.
  • Submit accounts to insurance companies, negotiating the pricing and coverage, and reviewing underwriting questions with Producers.
  • Prepare thorough and accurate proposals, and discuss details with Producers, including any recommendations or additional options that should be offered to prospective clients.
  • Review all proposals for accuracy before presenting to the producer or prospective client.
  • When accounts are written, ensure database is updated to reflect coverages bound and order all policies from the insurance companies, verifying final pricing, commission and any changes.
  • Inform insurance companies of the outcome of all submissions.
  • Review insurance company / broker incoming correspondence and distribute or advise agency personnel of any changes or pertinent information.
  • Keep Commercial Lines Department informed of any company changes in underwriting philosophy.
  • Maintain updated marketing log.
  • Review applications completed by Marketing Specialists for accuracy, as needed.
  • Responsible for the training program for all Marketing Specialists.
  • Schedule visits and meet with company underwriters/personnel, as needed, and keep Commercial Lines Department informed of upcoming visitor schedules.
  • Send weekly Visitor List to the Commercial Lines staff and send calendar invitations to all producers for each visitor coming to our office.
  • Maintain updated Competitor Information List, Marketing Specialties List and other marketing-related documents and inform Producers as changes are made.
  • Maintain updated insurance company contact list on LPI-Marketing Share Point site, making special announcements regarding specific changes that require immediate attention.
  • Serve as the primary source for Commercial Lines Market information.
  • Perform special requests and projects at management’s request.

Experience and Education:

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in Commercial Insurance required.

Licensing and Credentials:

  • Active General Lines or Property & Casualty License required

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Applied Epic experience preferred, but knowledge of similar Account Management System (AMS) is acceptable

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift 25 pounds
  • Repeated use of sight to read documents and computer screens
  • Repeated use of hearing and speech to communicate on telephone and in person
  • Repetitive hand movements, such as keyboarding, writing, 10-key
  • Walking, bending, sitting, reaching and stretching in all directions
