The primary purpose of this role is the management and leadership of the Paris Commercial Insurance underwriting team. Working closely with the Commercial Insurance Underwriting Manager, you will set the vision and plan, build, and support the day-to-day needs of the team, plus play an active part in supporting the talent and development needs of underwriters. You will report to the Commercial Insurance Leader, working closely with the Field Office managers Paris to deliver on key performance indicators.
Any candidate should have an underwriting background and be capable of holding high levels of underwriting authority in at least one core line of business. You should also be interested in and capable of operating with understanding and influence across other line of business. This new role will focus on new business growth and renewal retention across Property and Casualty Package lines.
Key Responsibilities:
Growth of Commercial/ Middle Market package/ multiline business (as defined by Commercial Insurance leadership)
Execution of the financial plan is a critical responsibility for this role, and regular financial forecasting and updates will be required.
Build and maintain relationships with a panel of brokers, maintain regular dialogue with brokers and clients to obtain and act on their feedback. Regularly conduct and share market research and intelligence.
Work closely with internal stakeholders including but not limited to BDMs, LOB leaders, and CI Underwriting manager to drive cross-sell opportunities and report back on our Commercial Multiline parameters.
Obtains and analyses account-specific information and ensures accuracy and compliance with underwriting strategy and authority.
Ownership of the monitoring of the portfolio and caseload of both the team and individual team members
Skills & Experience Required:
- Underwriting background and be capable of holding high levels of underwriting authority in at least one core line of business. They should also be interested in and capable of operating with understanding and influence across other lines of business.
- Under minimal direction, works within delegated underwriting authority.
- Strong expertise in risk analysis, interpretation and analysis of claims, and appropriate deployment of loss control resources.
- Experience of underwriting and servicing multinational clients and has knowledge of program structure and compliance requirements.
- Proven ability to successfully negotiate on all levels and develop broker relationships.
- A strong track record of service orientation and teamwork.
- The aptitude to attract and retain profitable business.
- Ability to execute and influence at all levels both internally and externally.
- People management and leadership skills
- Must have strong interpersonal, written communication skills and focus on quality.
