Role Summary 

 

The Commercial Finance Manager acts as a strategic finance business partner to the Sales teams, providing financial insights and analytical support to drive profitable growth.  

Working cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Demand Planning, the Commercial Finance Manager ensures commercial decisions are supported by robust financial analysis and aligned with the company's strategic and profitability objectives

Key Responsibilities 

 

  • Commercial Business Partnering 

 

  • Act as the primary Finance Business Partner to the Sales teams, providing financial guidance and decision support. 
  • Challenge and support commercial initiatives to ensure sustainable and profitable growth. 
  • Translate financial insights into actionable recommendations for business leaders. 
  • Support customer negotiations by providing profitability analysis and commercial financial evaluations. 

 

  • Commercial Performance Management 

 

  • Monitor and analyse Sell-In, Distributor Stock, and Sell-Out performance to ensure healthy inventory levels and sustainable market growth. 
  • Identify risks and opportunities through commercial performance analysis and recommend corrective actions. 

 

  • Budgeting, Forecasting & Planning 

 

  • Review and validate sell-out forecasts using trade investment, market data, and commercial performance indicators. 
  • Support monthly rolling forecasts and annual budgeting cycles. 
  • Ensure alignment between commercial assumptions and financial forecasts. 

 

  • Quarterly Business Reviews 

 

  • Lead Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) with Commercial leadership. 
  • Analyse market share, sell-out performance, customer profitability, and commercial KPIs. 
  • Prepare executive presentations highlighting business performance, risks, opportunities, and recommended actions. 

 

  • Pricing & Trade Investment Management 

 

  • Evaluate pricing strategies to maximize revenue and profitability. 
  • Optimize trade investments, promotional spending, and discount structures through financial analysis. 
  • Assess the return on trade promotions and recommend improvements to maximize ROI. 
  • Ensure trade investments are aligned with commercial objectives and budget targets. 

 

 

 

  • New Product Development (NPD) Financial Evaluation 

 

  • Lead the financial evaluation of New Product Development (NPD) initiatives. 
  • Ensure pricing recommendations align with profitability targets and business objectives. 
  • Conduct post-launch evaluations to assess financial performance, identify success factors, and capture lessons learned for future product launches. 

 

  • Profitability & Value Chain Analysis 

 

  • Analyse profitability across customers, brands, products, channels, and distributors. 
  • Evaluate distributor P&Ls and identify opportunities to improve commercial profitability. 
  • Assess value chain performance to optimize margins and resource allocation. 
  • Support portfolio optimization through customer and product profitability analysis. 

 

  • Reporting & Decision Support 

 

  • Develop financial dashboards and performance reports for senior management. 
  • Monitor key commercial KPIs and identify trends affecting business performance. 
  • Support strategic decision-making through financial modelling and scenario analysis. 

Qualifications & Experiences 

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related discipline. 
  • 6–8 years of experience in Commercial Finance, FP&A, Finance Business Partnering, or Commercial Controlling within the FMCG or alcoholic beverages industry.
