As the Commercial Director for the Japan Market, you will play a pivotal role in driving the future growth and expansion for ACT Japan. By cultivating a high-performance culture and building a diverse, motivated team, you will spearhead efforts to meet and exceed financial targets while deepening customer engagement. Your forward-thinking leadership will be essential in positioning ACT Japan as a dominant force in the market, enabling the organization to achieve its ambitious growth objectives.    

  • Key person to craft and execute strategic initiatives for the Japan office, driving growth and expansion, and shaping the long-term strategy for future growth in the sustainability industry. 
  • Align Japan’s objectives with APAC leadership and the broader ACT Group, ensuring alignment with regional and group goals. 
  • Identify and capitalize on go-to-market opportunities in the Japanese market, driving our business growth by expanding our footprint and influence across Japan. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, partners, and stakeholders, fostering strategic business partnerships to drive sales and revenue growth. 
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders 
  •  Oversee and manage the overall P&L for the Japan office, ensuring consistent revenue growth and profitability. This includes optimizing pricing strategies, managing costs, and driving sales performance. 
  • Manage team performance through effective leadership and support, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. 
  • This role is based in Tokyo, Japan. 

Your Expertise: 

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates with the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Bachelor’s/ Master's graduate, preferably in STEM, Business, Economics, or Finance; 
  • At least 10 years’ experience in a leadership position, ideally in corporate banking, financial or energy sector. 
  • Demonstrated success in cultivating new business with C-level executives and managing multiple client relationships within the region. 
  • Provision of strong leadership and direction at a country level and highly developed experience across all elements of the company leadership model and experience in leading, motivating and building teams. 
  • Proficient in both English (company language) and Japanese. 
  • Strong presentation skills, with in-depth knowledge of the commodities market and local cultural nuances. 
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities. 
  • Strong interest in making a positive climate impact. 
  • Energetic team player with strong analytical skills, a positive attitude, and proven adaptability. 
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth environment is highly desirable. 
  • Self-driven with a strong work ethic.
