Your Role
We’re looking for a strategic and hands-on Commercial Counsel to join us as our second lawyer. You will play a pivotal role in closing deals with customers and vendors by partnering closely with Sales, Revenue, and other key stakeholders. As the second member of a scrappy legal team, you will have the opportunity to drive commercial strategy, establish scalable programs, and work closely with leaders across the business as a trusted business partner. The ideal candidate will have a solid contracting background, curiosity, and a strong sense of ownership. This is a hybrid role based out of our San Francisco office where you’ll collaborate with the team onsite Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
Your Impact:
You will partner with Sales to close customer deals
You will draft, review, and negotiate inbound, outbound, and partnership commercial agreements, including customer contracts, non-disclosure agreements, master services agreements with key partners, vendor agreements, data security/confidentiality agreements, and business associate agreements
You will maintain and update our playbooks and template documents
You will educate internal stakeholders on negotiation best practices and contract terms
You will own our contract lifecycle management program and evaluate new technologies to uplevel our program
You will partner with all parts of the business to develop, implement, and improve scalable processes for legal support
You will roll up your sleeves and tackle both big and little tasks
We understand (and hope!) that you may be interested in many practice areas. You will be asked to help with other projects as needed to support a quickly growing company, and we will encourage you to raise proposals and drive solutions as you identify them
Your Must-haves and skillset:
JD and California bar admission in good standing
3+ years of legal experience in a law firm or high-growth technology company
Detail-oriented
Thrive in cross-functional environments and are comfortable being the go-to legal resource for Sales, Finance, RevOps, and Product
Are energized by operating in an agile, solution-focused setting and adapt quickly as priorities shift
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex concepts into clear, actionable guidance
Demonstrated track record of managing multiple priorities, influencing stakeholders, and delivering results in a fast-paced environment
Fluency with privacy and healthcare frameworks (like HIPAA and CCPA)
Sense of humor
Additional Nice-to-have skills:
Familiarity with LegalOps tooling
Privacy and product counseling experience
