Black Forest Labs is a cutting-edge startup pioneering generative image and video models. Our team, which invented Stable Diffusion, Stable Video Diffusion, and FLUX.1, is currently looking for a strong candidate to join us in building out the legal team.
As a member of the Legal team, you will be our first commercial-focused Legal team member. You will be focused on negotiating and closing our commercial deals and partnership agreements, and you will be working closely with our sales, business development, finance, and technical teams. This is a unique opportunity to engage directly with the forefront of the legal, commercial, and AI fields.
Role:In this role, you will:
- Be the go-to counsel and partner for several teams focused on commercial transactions and strategic partnerships.
- Identify and address commercial, product, regulatory, privacy, and other legal risks and mitigations, in connection with commercial transactions.
- Develop strategies for handling legal issues in creative ways and build processes for scaling flexible solutions that address risk.
- Become an expert in AI commercial legal matters.
- Have 6+ years of experience with a mix of in-house and technology-focused law firm commercial roles.
- Commercially minded and understand the letter of the law and can approach problems in a practical, principled approach.
- Build cross-functional relationships and communication styles that resonate with teams to balance risk-taking with responsible development.
- Have a strong sense of ownership, are inquisitive and enthusiastic about technology, enjoy being continually challenged, and can demonstrate sound judgment in ambiguous situations and articulate the reasoning for your choices.
- Have a Juris Doctorate or equivalent and license or qualification to practice in the US, UK, or Germany.
