Location: Central London (hybrid; bias to office working with flexibility)
Team: Energy Flexibility
Level: Analyst
Working pattern: Central London office with a bias to office working; flexibility available. For the right candidate, reasonable adjustments considered (4 days/week in the office).
Why this role exists
Ohme is growing our flexibility trading capability. We’re looking for a commercially minded analyst who is energised by fast-moving power markets and who enjoys building light-weight tools and automations that unlock new revenue. You’ll help us place our asset portfolio into the Capacity Market, DSO flexibility markets, and wholesale & balancing markets, turning market insight into action.
You’ll thrive here if you like turning ambiguity into clear next steps, partnering across teams, and seeing your ideas land in production.
What you’ll do
- Run the daily market view: track day‑ahead/intraday prices and fundamentals (ESO/Elexon feeds) and draft crisp trading notes.
- Prepare and submit bids/offers in DSO flexibility and ESO/balancing markets via Piclo Flex and DSO portals (with guidance); support delivery and post‑event analysis.
- Support Capacity Market pre‑qualification, auction prep, and portfolio admin via the EMR Delivery Body portal.
- Maintain concise Sigma dashboards and Confluence notes; map processes in Miro; run quick scenarios/backtests.
- Contribute to lightweight data/alerting workflows (e.g., n8n) that ingest ESO/Elexon and DSO data, trigger alerts, and generate daily packs.
What you’ll bring (skills & experience)
Mindset (what we value)
- Action‑oriented, comfortable with ambiguity, and eager to learn quickly.
- Clear, concise communication and an eye for the commercial signal in noisy data.
- Collaborative and dependable; you close the loop and document as you go.
Core skills you’ll use
- General awareness of GB power markets (DSO flexibility, ESO balancing/BM, Capacity Market, day‑ahead/intraday) and hands‑on use of some of the following (not all): Piclo Flex; DSO portals (UKPN, SSEN, ENWL, SPEN, NGED); Elexon BMRS/Insights; NG ESO Data Portal; EPEX SPOT or Nord Pool; EMR Delivery Body; or equivalent.
- Strong spreadsheets and comfort with data; basic Python or SQL to pull, tidy, and join datasets.
Helpful
- Small‑scale automations (e.g., n8n/Make/Zapier) and API integrations.
- Sigma dashboards; Confluence for notes/runbooks; Miro for process maps.
- Version control (Git) and BI tools (Power BI/Tableau/Looker).
- Basic risk concepts (P&L attribution, scenarios, hedging).
If you’re close to these requirements, we’d still like to hear from you.
What success looks like (6–12 months)
- Daily market intel and alerts that improve trading decisions.
- Clean, documented workflows that save hours and reduce errors.
- Visible revenue contribution across Capacity Market, DSO, and wholesale/balancing.
