The Role

DDM is looking for a writer to join the News & Deals team to cover timely home, fashion, and lifestyle-related shopping content, including sale roundups, single-product reviews, writer-loved pieces, seasonal and trending items, and more for Real Simple. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is passionate about finding and recommending the best products and thrives in a fast-paced environment. 

Writers must be based in the U.S. and be comfortable working remotely or live near a DDM office (NYC, Des Moines, Birmingham, LA, Chicago).

 

Your day-to-day:  

  • Pitch and write one to two shopping articles per day that generate affiliate revenue

  • Use data and analytics to brainstorm and guide content decisions

  • Collaborate closely with numerous writers and editors on the home vertical, along with several teams across DDM

  • Monitor social media (TikTok, Instagram, etc.) for commerce opportunities, including viral products

  • Build your own content within the CMS

  • Reach out to experts to provide background information and quotes as needed

  • Attend weekly editorial meetings, reporting back to the Home News & Deals team with any relevant insights

The Role’s Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or a similar field

Experience:

2+ years of relevant experience

Specific Knowledge, Skills, Certifications and Abilities:

You are: 

  • Knowledgeable about the home and lifestyle space and passionate about shopping and finding the best products to recommend to readers

  • Detail-oriented and deadline-focused

  • Well-versed in SEO best practices

  • A strong writer capable of creating engaging, lively copy while sticking to a brand’s voice, values, and style

  • A self-starter who can pivot seamlessly as new initiatives and directives are identified
