JOB SUMMARY:
The CNC Machinist II performs intermediate-level machining tasks with minimal supervision. This role involves programming, setting up and operating CNC dual-spindle lathes for low to medium volume precision machining. Interpreting complex drawings and collaborating across departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.
- Develop and modify machining programs using CAM software (Mastercam preferred)
- Experience or familiarity operating CMX, NHX, DMU65, DMU50, and VCF CNC machines
- Design and build tooling, fixtures, and workholding solutions
- Perform machine setup including tooling offsets, work offsets, and prove-out of new programs
- Interpret complex engineering drawings, including GD&T
- Inspect in-process and finished parts using precision measuring equipment
- Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and process issues to improve quality and efficiency
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and production teams to resolve technical challenges
- Operate basic shop equipment including bandsaws, manual lathes, mills, drill presses, and shears
- Maintain machines, tooling, and work areas in a clean and safe condition
- Follow all company safety procedures and support continuous improvement initiatives
- Mentor junior machinists and support skill development within the team
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School diploma or GED required.
• 3-10 years of CNC machining experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to independently program, set up, and operate CNC lathes with minimal supervision
- Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, feeds/speeds, and workholding
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
- Experience using precision inspection equipment
- Experience with dual-spindle CNC lathes
- Experience with mill-turn machining
- Familiarity with DN Solutions lathes
- Experience with BMT65 live tooling systems
- Mastercam programming experience
- Experience machining tight-tolerance, high-performance, or defense-related components
- Familiarity with FANUC-based controls
- Proficiency with Windows-based software (Excel, Outlook, etc.)
- Ownership of standard machinist tools
