Position Overview
We are looking for a passionate and curious CMF Designer to join our team. In this role, you will be instrumental in developing and executing compelling color, material, and finish strategies for our products. You will contribute to projects from concept through production, applying our global Design Identity while integrating local market insights and manufacturing realities. This is a hands-on role for a designer who is building expertise, eager to learn, and ready to take on more responsibility within a supportive, global team.
Key Responsibilities
- CMF Trend Research & Execution:
- Conduct research on global and local CMF trends, consumer preferences, and competitor landscapes to generate actionable insights.
- Create mood boards, material palettes, and color stories that align with project briefs and the Electrolux Design Identity.
- Prepare high-quality physical and digital CMF samples, prototypes, and presentation boards.
- Design Development & Localization Support:
- Execute CMF designs under the guidance of senior designers, Global principal CMF designer and line manager, contributing creative ideas to project direction.
- Develop a practical understanding of Local's manufacturing capabilities, materials, and processes to ensure design feasibility and inform global strategies.
- Assist in adapting global CMF directions for local projects, considering production parameters and cost implications.
- Create detailed CMF specifications (Color Standards, Material Definitions, Finish Codes) for engineering and sourcing teams.
- Cross-functional Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with Industrial Designers, UX/UI designers, and engineers to ensure holistic and integrated product design.
- Collaborate with suppliers to source, evaluate, and develop new materials and finishes.
- Participate in design reviews, providing well-reasoned input and absorbing feedback constructively.
- Clearly communicate your design proposals and rationale to team members and stakeholders.
- Process & Quality Assurance:
- Follow established design processes to deliver high-quality work on time.
- Support quality control during development phases, ensuring CMF execution matches design intent through on-site factory visits and sample evaluations.
- Organize and maintain the local CMF library, including material samples, color standards, and supplier information.
Qualifications & Experience
- Must Have:
- Bachelor's degree or above in Design related field.
- 2-3+ years of professional CMF design experience, preferably in consumer products, automotive, fashion, or 3C design.
- A strong portfolio demonstrates a keen sense of color, material application, and trend awareness.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator) and Keyshot (or other 3D rendering software for material application).
- Good knowledge of materials (plastics, metals, wood, coatings) and mainstream manufacturing processes.
- Fluent in both Mandarin and English (verbal and written)
- Strong curiosity about materials, trends, and manufacturing.
- Highly Valued:
- Experience working with overseas teams or in a multinational environment.
- Basic understanding of sustainable material innovations and circular design principles.
- Hands-on experience in material sourcing, prototyping, or technical collaboration with suppliers in Local.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
