Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities
Research, Analysis & Trend Insight
- Analyze consumer insights, trend foresight, and the competitive landscape based on the Design Identity to identify contextual CMF opportunities for branded products.
- Conduct CMF design research using established methodologies and tools, leveraging internal and external expert networks, and collaborating closely with the Design Identity and Product Design teams.
- Proactively develop and maintain a deep understanding of the local manufacturing landscape, including materials, processes, and supplier capabilities, to inform and enrich the company's global Design Identity with localized insights.
- Develop unique and relevant CMF scenarios and concepts that explore new propositions aligned with Design Identity.
Design Identity Development & CMF Direction Setting
- Support the principal CMF designer for development of the CMF component within the Design Identity for the Wellbeing & SDA product lines.
- Work in accordance with global processes and methods, skillfully interpreting and applying the global Design Identity to local projects, while making confident, professional judgments and adaptations to meet practical production requirements and constraints.
- Execute the CMF Design Identity following global processes, timelines, and methods, providing feedback and supporting its evaluation, particularly from a production feasibility standpoint.
- Take ownership of design decisions, demonstrating accountability for outcomes. Systematically gather and provide timely feedback on the successes and challenges of applying the Design Identity in cost efficiency, solutions etc, contributing valuable insights to help refine and prepare for the evolution of future design strategies.
Visual Design & Concept Communication
- Effectively define and communicate CMF concepts using appropriate tools such as mood boards, sketches, and 3D renderings.
- Establish compelling CMF hierarchies by understanding their impact on brand, users, market, and culture.
Functional Design & Implementation
- Provide solution-oriented input to the design process and product applications based on Design Identity, technical constraints, material properties, manufacturing technologies, and supplier capabilities.
- Work closely with Product Designers, advocating for and integrating sustainability as a core design consideration.
- UI- Apply the UI and Icons from design Identity and library onto projects. Create icons if necessary.
Leadership, Collaboration & Resource Networking
- While there are no direct people management responsibilities, you will guide and mentor junior designers within the team and provide technical advice or guidance to suppliers to enhance their efficiency.
- Actively organize and cultivate a network of local CMF resources (e.g. material innovators, finish specialists, trend agencies). Proactively share this knowledge and foster growth within the broader team.
- Plan and manage your own time and tasks to ensure delivery of priorities and adherence to deadlines.
- Work independently with minimal guidance while actively participating in team design critiques and feedback sessions.
- Support global design teams with urgent requests related to local production.
Communication & Influence
- Communicate ideas clearly and persuasively to individuals and groups, using appropriate styles and tools for presentations.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve both short-term and long-term goals.
- Willingness to travel and represent the Design Team in cross-functional meetings, working on-site to deliver efficient solutions.
