Job Description:
Johnson Controls is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive CMDB Analyst with 1-2 years of experience to join our IT service management team. The CMDB Analyst will be instrumental in ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB), which is essential for effective IT asset management and service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of the CMDB, ensuring that all configuration items (CIs) are accurately recorded and updated throughout their lifecycle.
- Collaborate closely with IT teams, including infrastructure, application, and security, to gather, document, and validate information regarding IT assets, services, and their interdependencies.
- Conduct regular audits and data quality checks of the CMDB to identify and rectify discrepancies, ensuring comprehensive and accurate CI records.
- Support the integration of CMDB data with other ITSM processes, including incident, problem, and change management, to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Develop, generate, and maintain insightful reports and dashboards that track CMDB metrics, trends, and performance indicators, providing analysis to stakeholders and management.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing CMDB processes, workflows, and tools to enhance overall IT service delivery efficiency.
- Play an active role in the development and delivery of training programs for team members on CMDB best practices, tools, and methodologies.
- Stay informed about industry trends and advancements in CMDB management and configuration management practices to recommend improvements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- 1-2 years of hands-on experience in IT asset management, configuration management, or related fields, demonstrating a foundational understanding of CMDB principles.
- Familiarity with CMDB tools and a working knowledge of the ITIL framework, specifically related to configuration management processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, for data analysis, reporting, and visualization purposes.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with ServiceNow, BMC Remedy, or other ITSM tools that include CMDB capabilities.
- Basic understanding of IT infrastructure components, their configurations, and the relationships between various IT services.
- Exposure to project management methodologies and tools would be advantageous.
