Job Description
Position Summary:As a Cloud Software Architect on Rockwell Automation's FactoryTalk Design Studio product, you will help shape the cloud infrastructure and architectural direction of our next-generation design product for industrial control systems. This role is critical in ensuring our cloud-based solutions are scalable, performant, cost-effective, and developer-friendly. You will drive architectural decisions that enable rapid product development while meeting architectural goals.
You'll be one of the go-to experts to provide cloud architecture guidance to domain experts and provide oversight for projects across broad product space. You will be given a leading role for projects in the program and will work with product management to refine requirements, and you will work with architect peers and globally distributed development teams to deliver high-level designs and infrastructure guidance. As an architect, you will also mentor other architects and developers, contributing to the development of a highly performing team.
As an individual contributor, you will report to the product architecture lead and join a collaborative product architecture team that spans multiple technology and product domains.
Your Responsibilities:- Define and drive the cloud architecture strategy for the platform, based on Microsoft Azure.
- Collaborate with architecture peers to ensure alignment across domains and provide clear, actionable guidance to development teams.
- Evaluate and optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, cost, scalability, and developer experience.
- Champion the use of generative AI to enhance architectural design and development workflows.
- Communicate architectural decisions, balancing technical thoughtfulness with the need for agile execution.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
- Legal authorization to work in the US is required- we will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, not now or in the future, for this job opening.
- Typically requires 8+ years of experience in software development.
- 3+ years in a software architecture role(s).
- Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Deep expertise in cloud architecture, with a strong preference for Microsoft Azure.
- Proven ability to design and implement scalable, maintainable, and cost-effective cloud solutions.
- Experience working on large-scale, industrial or enterprise-grade software systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead architectural initiatives and influence cross-functional teams.
- Power user of generative AI tools with a track record of using them to accelerate design and development.
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
- Azure certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure DevOps Engineer Expert.
