Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced VDI Administrator with a strong background in Microsoft Azure technologies. This role is crucial for maintaining the health and performance of our virtual desktop infrastructure, which is built on Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and Azure VMware Solution (AVS). The ideal candidate will be a subject matter expert, capable of handling escalated support requests from our Global Service Desk and executing project-based work to improve and expand our VDI environment. This is a hybrid position, requiring a mix of in-office and remote work. The successful candidate will have the autonomy to manage their work and contribute to a global team.
Key Responsibilities:
Tier 3 Escalation Support: Act as the primary point of escalation for VDI-related issues from the Global Service Desk. Diagnose and resolve complex problems related to virtual desktops, application delivery, and user connectivity within the AVD and AVS environments.
Azure VDI Infrastructure Management: Administer, monitor, and maintain our VDI infrastructure, including AVD host pools, application groups, and workspaces, as well as the virtualized environment within Azure VMware Solution (AVS).
Project Execution: Lead and participate in ad-hoc projects to enhance the VDI infrastructure, which may include new feature implementations, system migrations, and optimization efforts within the Azure ecosystem.
Performance and Capacity Planning: Continuously monitor VDI performance and utilization, making necessary adjustments to ensure optimal user experience and planning for future capacity needs within Azure.
Golden Image Management: Create, update, and manage the "Golden Image" (master image) for virtual desktops on both AVD and AVS, including application packaging and patching.
Security and Compliance: Implement and maintain security measures to protect the VDI environment, leveraging Azure security features and ensuring compliance with company policies.
Documentation: Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for VDI configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides specific to AVD and AVS.
Collaboration: Work closely with other IT teams, including network, server, and security, to ensure seamless integration of VDI solutions with other native Azure services.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
Proven experience as a VDI Administrator with a strong focus on Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD).
In-depth knowledge of Azure VMware Solution (AVS) and a comprehensive understanding of its architecture and integration with native Azure services.
Strong experience with Microsoft Windows Server technologies, including Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP, within an Azure context.
Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., PowerShell, Azure CLI) to streamline administrative tasks.
Hands-on experience with the Azure Portal, virtual networking, and storage accounts.
Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills for complex technical issues in a cloud environment.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Relevant certifications such as AZ-140: Configuring and Operating Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop and other Azure certifications are highly desirable.
