We are seeking a highly analytical Cloud FinOps Consultant to help our customers gain full visibility and control over their cloud costs, and to drive optimization initiatives that align cloud usage with business value.
In this role, you will combine data analysis skills with cloud economics expertise to uncover cost drivers, model optimization scenarios, and embed FinOps practices within customer organizations. You will work closely with engineering, finance, and leadership stakeholders, helping them make data-driven decisions about cloud investments.
This role is ideal for someone with a STEM or data analysis background (e.g., PhD or MSc in a quantitative field, data analyst, data scientist, or financial analyst) who is excited to apply those skills to the fast-growing domain of Cloud FinOps.
You will also leverage our in-house Rabbit (followrabbit.ai) platform to deliver actionable insights and automation at scale, bringing transparency and efficiency to cloud cost management.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze large and complex cloud usage and billing datasets to identify cost drivers, anomalies, and optimization opportunities.
- Provide actionable recommendations on rightsizing, commitment discounts (e.g., CUDs/SUDs), license optimization, and architectural trade-offs.
- Partner with customer stakeholders across engineering, finance, and procurement to embed FinOps best practices.
- Support the implementation of governance models, tagging policies, and cost allocation strategies.
- Deliver dashboards, reports, and executive presentations to communicate findings clearly and persuasively.
- Help customers and Account Managers prepare and align on commit vs. actuals and forecast planning, ensuring accurate cloud spend management and forward-looking visibility.
- Collaborate with Solution Architects and Delivery teams to align technical design decisions with cost efficiency.
- Stay up to date on cloud pricing models, tools, and FinOps best practices, with a focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Use Rabbit (followrabbit.ai) alongside native cloud billing tools to deliver cost transparency, reporting, and optimization recommendations.
- Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
- Background in STEM, data analysis, or finance; advanced degree (e.g., PhD or MSc) in a quantitative discipline a strong plus.
- Experience working with large datasets (SQL, Python, R, or equivalent) and deriving actionable insights.
- Strong communication skills; ability to explain complex cost models to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborative mindset; comfortable working across engineering, finance, and procurement functions.
- Familiarity with cloud billing models and pricing structures (GCP preferred; AWS/Azure a plus).
- Experience with FinOps or cost management tools (BigQuery, Looker, Tableau, Apptio, CloudHealth, Cloudability).
- FinOps Certified Practitioner (FCP) or willingness to pursue certification.
- Prior exposure to cloud engineering, data science, or financial planning & analysis (FP&A).
