Job Description:
Cloud Engineer
Sun Life is seeking a Cloud Engineer, who can work with a skilled team of Cloud Engineers to deliver better & efficient cloud platform solutions to our consumers.
This is a great opportunity to work with a highly skilled team of Cloud Engineers and work with them in ongoing Engineering initiatives with our partner stakeholder group and help our consumers to onboard to Cloud.
What will you do?
- Drive forward the Cloud Infrastructure as Code roadmap.
- Partner with our consumers within Sun ife to assist them get onboarded to cloud, provision environments, develop roles and build a seamless onboarding process.
- Work with Enterprise Architecture team to ensure proper execution, business, and strategic alignment.
- Consult and advise our consumers on Cloud Services, best practices and lead them to get onboarded to Cloud Environment seamlessly.
- Build automation and compliance by design using Cloud Native technologies.
- Be part of an Agile development team helping the business deliver strategic initiatives
- Working with new technologies and transforming legacy technology to leverage the Cloud.
- Make both tactical and strategic decisions including delivering Cloud Proof of Concept (PoC) initiatives.
- Work with Support teams to debug and fix reported issues, and act as an escalation point for incidents
- Required to move quickly but never compromise the security of our systems or the privacy of our clients.
- Apply best practices, standards, and ensure compliance to all company security directives.
- Participate in security engineering to ensure compliance by design.
- Willing to work and support cloud platform participating in on call rotations.
What do you need to succeed?
- University degree/college diploma in related discipline(s) or equivalent work experience, and/or 5+ years of industry experience in the IT industry
- 5 years of relevant work experience in server administration and/or cloud solution administration in an enterprise environment.
- Technical knowledge/ Cloud Certification with one of the public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
- Experience in DevOps environments and the use of automation to deliver business value.
- 365 Messaging experience and Microsoft Teams experience
- Experience in Software Engineering, Scripting, SDLC, or Infrastructure as Code.
- Advanced experience with programming and/or scripting languages (Python, Perl, Java, Bash, Ruby)
- You’ve engineered solutions for enterprise initiatives on a enterprise scale.
Preferred Skills
- Systems provisioning and configuration management experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, Terraform, Kubernetes, or Cloud Native tools.
- Databases and data experience such as: PostgreSQL, Redis or similar
- Good knowledge with programming and/or scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Java, Bash, Ruby)
- Container experience especially AWS EKS
- Strong communication skills that build customers’ confidence and trusted partnership.
- The ability to deliver documents, artifacts, and documentation (not just consoles and keyboards).

Southern California region: $134,800 - $202,200 annually

Central California region: $142,200 - $213,300 annually

Northern California region: $152,000 - $228,000 annually
If you are a Minnesota, Colorado or Nevada resident, the salary range for this position is $128,700 - $193,100 annually
If you are an Illinois, Connecticut or Maryland resident, the salary range for this position is $134,800 - $202,200 annually
If you are Washington, Washington D.C., and Rhode Island resident, the salary range for this position is $142,200 - $213,300 annually
If you are a New York resident, the salary range for this position is $152,000 - $228,000 annually
