Summary

The Regional Manager of Clinical Services (Low Country) conducts services related to the medical management of organ donors and organ functions and is responsible for the administration of the CDC, RTC, Referral AOC, Organ AOC and clinical educator staff.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

1.    Creates goals and objectives for medical management of the organ donor and the CDC staff in accordance with the SHSC strategic plan, OPTN and CMS guidelines and ensures these goals and objectives are met.

2.    Works collaboratively with Director of Clinical Services and management staff to establish methods for documenting, and meeting goals and objectives.

3.    Works a minimum of 2 field observation days per month (hospital and/or OR).

4.    Supports the Organ AOC role as needed. 

5.    Tracks and trends cases for medical management and identifies reasons consented organs are not transplanted for process improvement.

6.    Facilitates monthly staff meetings to review cases and management with the Medical Director.

7.    Regularly shares in the responsibilities of the Administrator on Call (AOC) under the supervision and direction of the Director of Clinical Services or designee.  Required 2 shifts per month.

8.    Assesses CDCs’ ability to evaluate potential donors, including: obtaining a physical and medical assessment and obtaining information from the hospital staff and the patient’s medical record.

9.    Initiates standing orders and donor evaluation, management of organ function, and recovery process.

10.    Assesses CDCs’ ability to stabilize and improve organ function of an unstable donor through the use of hemodynamic measurements and specialized organ treatment(s). 

11.    Works closely with clinical preceptors to ensure new staff are trained on all aspects of donor management prior to being released to task.

12.    Ensures clinical staff document the donor process accurately.

13.    Schedules clinical staff for call, Hospital Development assistance, and other duties.

14.    Conducts performance reviews with the assistance of the DCS.

15.    Works extensively with the DCS regarding any policies, procedures, document control, and flow processes. 
16.    Works collaboratively with multi-disciplinary team members to implement new research procedures in order to maximize organs transplanted and provide new data and treatment modalities to the transplant community.

17.    Responsible for an effective Clinical training program for CDCs, RTCs, Referral AOCs, Organ AOCs, clinical educators.

18.    Reviews and revises the procedures related to initiating any new procedures affecting the clinical staff, and ensures all clinical staff have been trained and understand all procedures before performing the task.

19.    Mentors recovery personnel throughout all aspects of the donation process. 

20.    Provides real-time feedback/guidance to clinical staff members surrounding performance, review of processes and procedures, and addressing staff needs. 

21.    Maintains clinical supply inventory in the assigned region, including maintenance of a par level and management of expired materials on a monthly basis.

22.    Prepares supplies for all contracted employees assigned to the designated region and provides all onboarding education to all contracted employees in their assigned region.

23.    Other duties as assigned.
 

Qualifications

•    Bachelors or Associates degree;
•    Three (3) years critical care experience; 
•    Two (2) years of experience working as an OPO CDC, or equivalent position; 
•    Management experience desired; 
•    Ability to multi-task in high stress situations, supervising and overseeing operations of multi-disciplinary team; or,
•    An equivalent combination of education and experience.
 

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's or Associate's degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Three (3) years critical care experience
  • Two (2) years of experience working as an OPO CDC or equivalent position
  • Management experience
  • Ability to multi-task in high stress situations and supervise multi-disciplinary teams
