Job Description
The Pathology Accessioner is responsible for receiving, sorting, identifying, and data-entering all clinical and anatomical specimens delivered to the laboratory. This role ensures absolute accuracy in patient identification, matches requisition forms with sample containers, assigns unique laboratory tracking numbers, and routes specimens to their appropriate processing areas while maintaining strict adherence to regulatory and safety standards.
Job Responsibility
- Accurately register and log incoming surgical pathology, cytology, and clinical specimens into the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
- Generate unique barcode tracking tissue cassettes and labels for specimen containers
- Assist with transferring samples to another facility
- Receipt of slides from sending facility
- Inventory management
- Disposition of specimen
- Maintain temperature and maintenance logs
- Performm related duties as required
Job Qualification
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 0-1 years of technical experience, required.
- Prior accessioner experience preferred
