You’ve been the second set of hands in the OR. Now build the team.
You know what separates a great first assist from a good one, because you’ve stood across the table from both. At MPOWERHealth, we’re looking for a former LSA, RNFA, or CSFA to take that firsthand surgical judgment out of the OR. You’ll put it to work finding, onboarding, and developing the Surgical Assist professionals who support surgeons every day.
This isn’t a recruiting desk job, and your clinical credibility is the reason. You’ll decide who’s ready, shape how they’re trained, and be the person our SA teams trust to understand what their day actually looks like.
About the Role
The Clinical Development and Engagement Lead is responsible for advancing the professional development, engagement, onboarding, and integration of MPOWERHealth’s Surgical Assist (SA) teams. This role partners closely with Clinical Leadership, Operations, Talent Acquisition, HR, Marketing, and Business Development to ensure a high-quality clinician experience from candidate assessment through long-term engagement and retention. The Lead serves as a key steward of clinical culture, clinician experience, and workforce growth.
ResponsibilitiesWhat You’ll Do
- Pick the right clinicians. Partner with Talent Acquisition to review candidates first. Assess their surgical background and procedural experience, and decide who advances to SA Manager interviews. Build the interview guides and assessment tools that make those calls consistent.
- Own onboarding. Design and run the onboarding experience for new Surgical Assist hires, from day-one readiness (access, equipment, credentials) through 30-day check-ins. Make sure new clinicians walk into their first case prepared.
- Develop talent. Work with Clinical Leadership to spot skill gaps and build competency standards and education resources. Identify high-potential clinicians for mentorship and advancement.
- Champion the SA team. Own engagement across the clinician lifecycle. Bring field feedback on scheduling, workload, and market needs to leadership, and drive the fixes.
- Represent us in the field. Attend recruiting conferences as a clinical ambassador. Talk shop with surgical clinicians, build relationships, and follow up with prospects.
- Support growth. Help clinicians transition smoothly during market expansions and acquisitions, and partner with HR on retention strategy.
- Measure what matters. Track pipeline, onboarding, engagement, and retention data, and turn it into recommendations for leadership.
What You Bring
- Hands-on surgical clinical experience as a Surgical First Assistant (LSA, RNFA, CSFA), Surgical Technologist, OR RN, or Surgical PA/NP. Required.
- Deep knowledge of OR workflows, surgical procedures, and the roles across the surgical team
- Experience working directly with surgeons and multidisciplinary OR teams
- The judgment to assess a clinician’s skills, readiness, and growth potential
- Strong communication, organization, and relationship-building skills
- Willingness to travel for onboarding, integrations, and conferences
- Experience precepting, training, or mentoring new OR staff
- Clinical leadership, education, or onboarding experience
A Note on Fit
This role requires direct surgical experience. Backgrounds exclusively in healthcare administration, recruiting, clinical research, or non-surgical operations won’t meet the minimum requirement.
