The Client Portfolio Analyst partners with Client Service colleagues, Investment team members, and other internal stakeholders to create high quality client materials. This role owns quarterly reporting and supports ad hoc client deliverables for an assigned coverage area (one or more equity strategies), delivering accurate, timely presentations, exhibits, and commentary aligned with the Investment team’s outlook and firmwide brand standards. The role requires strong analytical skills, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to execute under tight deadlines—particularly during quarter-end reporting periods.

Key Responsibilities

Quarterly Reporting & Client Materials

  • Own quarterly reporting for assigned strategies, including updating client presentations/books, exhibits, and supporting analytics.

  • Manage multiple deadlines and shifting priorities; occasional extended hours may be required, particularly during quarterly production cycles.

Performance Analysis & Commentary

  • Analyze and summarize portfolio and market performance relative to benchmarks and relevant context.
  • Partner with Investment, Communications, and Client Service team members to help develop commentary, support attribution analysis, validate messaging, and maintain consistency across materials.

Exhibit Library Stewardship & Quality Control

  • Serve as the point person for exhibit libraries and materials within the assigned coverage area, managing version control and updates to ensure consistency across all deliverables
  • Maintain high standards for data integrity and exhibit accuracy by following internal controls and quality-check procedures.

Cross-Team Collaboration & Coverage Support

  • Collaborate across teams to share best practices, improve processes, share strategy-specific insights, and provide coverage support as needed.
  • Support client initiatives, custom reporting, and ad hoc analyses in response to client needs and business priorities.

Qualifications

We’re looking for an intellectually curious, proactive self-starter with strong critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and exceptional attention to detail. You take ownership, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and can translate complex investment concepts into clear, client-ready communication. A growth mindset, strong work ethic, and continuous-improvement orientation are essential.

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) with strong academic performance.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience at an asset management or wealth management firm.
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills, with a strong track record of producing polished, client-ready materials.
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills; ability to interpret financial and market data with sound judgment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to translate technical analysis into clear client messaging.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet time-critical deadlines, and deliver consistently high-quality output.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to data integrity and quality control.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

Preferred

  • Experience with performance analysis and attribution.
  • Familiarity with FactSet and Bloomberg.
  • Public company financial statement and valuation analysis experience.
  • CFA Charterholder or progress toward the CFA designation.
  • Interest in expanding technical/tool capabilities and improving processes.

What We Do

Investment management is Dodge & Cox’s only business. We are focused on providing U.S., global, international, and emerging markets equity; fixed income; and balanced account management.

Strategies:
Equity — The philosophy guiding the management of our equity portfolios is built on traditional principles: we maintain a long-term focus, conduct our own research, and employ a rigorous price discipline. Our approach is research-intensive; decisions are based on individual company analysis by our team of investment professionals.

Fixed Income — Dodge & Cox’s philosophy is to construct and manage a high average quality portfolio of securities that are selected through bottom-up, fundamental analysis. We believe that by combining fundamental research with a long-term investment horizon it is possible to uncover and act upon inefficiencies in the valuation of market sectors and individual securities.

Balanced — Our objective in managing balanced accounts is to provide regular income, conservation of principal, and an opportunity for long-term growth of principal and income. Our strategy is to invest in a diversified portfolio of stocks and fixed income securities.

Offerings:
Dodge & Cox Funds — Dodge & Cox offers U.S. based investors a simple, low-cost way to own a portfolio of stocks and/or fixed income securities.

Private Client Accounts — The private client group serves high net worth individual investors, family offices, and non-profit organizations across the United States through separately managed accounts.

Institutional Separate Accounts — A client's investment objectives, asset allocation, and portfolio holdings are reviewed with an experienced portfolio manager and client service associate.
