The Process Discovery & Design Lead Business Analyst plays a critical role in advancing Client Lifecycle Management (CLM) transformation by connecting business strategy, client experience, process design, and technology delivery.

This role leads the discovery, analysis, and design of end-to-end onboarding, KYC, and client lifecycle processes, ensuring solutions are scalable, compliant, and aligned to measurable business outcomes.

The individual serves as a bridge between business, product, technology, operations, architecture, and transformation teams, translating strategic priorities and process insights into actionable delivery plans that improve client experience, operational efficiency, risk management, and revenue growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Align discovery and design work to enterprise strategy, priorities, OKRs, architecture principles, and technology standards.
  • Support business cases, investment decisions, and value tracking across client experience, efficiency, risk, and revenue.
  • Lead current- and target-state process mapping across onboarding, KYC, and lifecycle activities.
  • Identify inefficiencies, control gaps, manual touchpoints, and automation opportunities.
  • Translate process insights into product requirements, features, backlogs, and target-state process designs.
  • Identify dependencies across CLM domains and coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver cohesive client journeys.
  • Surface integration risks, conflicts, and delivery dependencies early to support timely resolution.
  • Partner with architecture and engineering teams to embed design patterns and maintain alignment to target-state architecture.
  • Promote consistency and reuse across onboarding and lifecycle platforms.
  • Lead user research and journey mapping to identify pain points, opportunities, and experience improvements.
  • Translate business, process, and regulatory needs into actionable product requirements.
  • Align design, product, and engineering teams through delivery.
  • Own workstream outcomes, scope, delivery, prioritization, capacity planning
  • Manage risks, escalate issues, support decisions, and lead governance routines and stakeholder forums.
  • Contribute to the establishment of repeatable processes to support parallel discovery and design initiatives.
  • Define, track, and report performance metrics, workstream health, delivery progress, and value realization.
  • Measure improvements in cycle time, automation, quality, and error reduction.
  • Contribute to strengthening ways of working across design, product, engineering, operations, and partner teams.
  • Drive adoption of enterprise tools for design, research, process mapping, delivery, and knowledge sharing.
  • Ensure discovery and process insights inform long-term platform strategy and transformation priorities.

Experience:

  • Experience in business architecture, process mapping, process design, and operating model development.
  • Proven leadership of cross-functional business, product, technology, and transformation initiatives.
  • Strong ability to translate strategy and process insights into actionable delivery outcomes.
  • Experience managing complex workstreams in matrixed organizations.
  • Financial services experience required; CLM, Client Onboarding, KYC, or Lifecycle Management experience preferred.
  • Seasoned professional with deep business and functional expertise, strong stakeholder management skills

Salary Range:

$114,700 - 194,900 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
