Commercial Insurance Client Advisor

Wilmington, NC | Full-time | On-Site with Hybrid Flexibility

You’re the kind of person who brings order to chaos and clarity to complexity.
You’ve got the instincts of an underwriter, the heart of a problem-solver, and the multitasking skills of someone who somehow always remembers to bring the certificate binder to the meeting.

At Wells Insurance, we’re looking for a Commercial Insurance Client Advisor to help service and grow a diverse book of commercial clients. This role is equal parts service, strategy, and relationship-building—and it’s absolutely essential to our team.

What You'll Do (aka: what keeps you busy in the best way)

You’ll be the steady hand guiding clients through everything from renewal cycles to last-minute COI requests—while managing details, asking smart questions, and uncovering opportunities they didn’t see coming.

You’ll:

  • Manage and retain your own commercial book of business with excellence and a sense of urgency
  • Build trust with business owners, CFOs, property managers, and anyone else who just wants things done right
  • Prepare proposals, review audits, issue binders, handle renewals, endorsements, and policy changes like it’s second nature
  • Know how to dig into coverage forms, rating systems, and policy language without needing a lifeline
  • Collaborate with underwriters to negotiate terms and advocate for clients
  • Spot cross-sell and upsell opportunities that actually make sense
  • Be a go-to partner for your Account Executive (if assigned)—or fly solo and own your process with confidence
  • Help clients through claims, carrier conversations, and tricky situations with empathy and clarity

You’ll Love This Role If:

  • You’re licensed in North Carolina P&C
  • You’ve got 3+ years of experience in commercial insurance servicing/advising
  • You’ve worked with EPIC (or something similar) and use Outlook like it’s your second brain
  • You like people, but also like getting things done
  • You know how to pivot between simple accounts and complex layered risks without getting rattled
  • You take pride in being proactive, not reactive
  • You’ve been told, “I don’t know how you keep track of all this” more than once

What You’ll Get at Wells

We’ve been doing this for over 100 years, and we’ve learned a few things—like how to take care of our people.

You’ll get:

  • Paid CE, licensing, and support for industry designations
  • Full medical, dental, vision, life & disability insurance
  • A 401(k) with match
  • PTO + Volunteer Time + Paid Holidays
  • Flexibility to do focused work without micromanagement
  • A smart, friendly, high-performing team that respects your time and your talent
  • Access to cool things like our in-house events, community givebacks, and the fiercely fun Wells Corporate Cup

If this sounds like a role made for you…

We want to hear from you. Bring your experience, your precision, your perspective—and let’s build something that lasts.

Skills Required

  • North Carolina Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance license
  • 3+ years of experience in commercial insurance servicing/advising
  • Experience with EPIC or a similar agency management system
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook
