Purpose: To work closely with the producer and Commercial Lines Customer Service Representative to service new and existing accounts to achieve Agency sales goals and service standards.  Responsible for securing the retention of specifically assigned Commercial accounts through marketing responsibilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Develop a full working knowledge of Commercial Lines procedures. Handle client requests for information, endorsements, forms, and rates for accuracy, recommending changes or amendments. Review and analyze policies, endorsements, forms, and rates for accuracy, recommending changes or amendments. Oversee the requests for endorsements, and control and preparation of binders, certificates, invoices, automobile identification cards, and similar items. Review suspense on a regularly scheduled basis, re-suspending or handling items as appropriate. Maintain account files, overseeing that documents are placed into appropriate sections of automated database. Order cancellations where requested or required. Assist in clearing unbilled items, account differences, and commission differences. Coordinate premium financing needs with Accounting Department. Keep producers informed of real or potential problems. Correspond with markets and clients, accompanying producers on visits as requested. Responsible for the marketing of assigned accounts, obtaining and evaluating quotations, and determining and recommending markets. Maintain knowledge of carrier underwriting criteria, deviations, plans, and marketing policy. Maintain knowledge of approved rates by the respective carriers, and be able to explain the rating of any policy. Negotiate with company underwriters. Prepare complete and accurate submissions. Prepare and/or modify quotations when required. Maintain a suspense file for proper follow up of outstanding quotation requests. Prepare policy orders to the successful carrier, binding and invoicing as appropriate. Check carrier issued policies for accuracy.  Inform carrier and client of forthcoming corrections. Utilize agency automation with a high level of knowledge and proficiency. Follow procedures as established in the Commercial Lines Procedure Manual. Pursue a program of personal and professional development. All other duties as assigned.

Education, Experience and Knowledge

Required:

  • High School degree or equivalent.
  • Proficient knowledge in Microsoft Windows environment, including but not limited to Word, Excel, Power Point, and Publisher.  Able to create, edit, and merge letters, spreadsheets, labels, etc.
  • Valid Insurance Producer license in good standing (authorities in states needed to service the assigned book of business) or ability to obtain such within 90 days of hire.

Preferred:

  • College Degree in a business-related field.
  • CPCU and/or CIC designation preferred.
  • 1-2+ years of insurance experience, or a related field.

Physical Requirements Necessary on a Regular Basis:

Manual dexterity, arm and upper body range of motion sufficient for use of a keyboard and mouse on a constant basis 7-8 hours per day. Vision sufficient for constant use of computer. Ability to sit at a desk 7-8 hours per day. Hearing sufficient for in-person and telephone communication on a daily basis.

Pay Range

$28.85 - $40.87 Hourly

The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
