Primary Purpose:
Coordinates facility-related maintenance, repairs and replacements for Food Lion Stores and
corporate facilities.
Schedule: This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position scheduled from 1:00 - 10:00 PM, including rotating weekends. Schedule may occasionally vary based on business needs.
Our flexible/hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at our core location and 2 remote days. This position is based in our office located in Salisbury, NC.
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Acts as a liaison between retail stores and maintenance field staff/service vendors on facility-related service and maintenance issues. Processes phone, email and computer-entered requests for service in a timely manner to ensure that stores are safe, compliant and fully operational to serve customers
  • Processes and follows up on 154,000(+) work orders annually.
  • Maintains 98% ratio of suspense to open work orders.
  • Processes requests for service at corporate facilities to keep the facilities safe, compliant and in working order.
  • Based on an assessment of the situation, determines whether a service technician/contractor is required, and dispatches the appropriate service technician/contractor as needed.
  • Ensures work orders are keyed properly and flagged for accounting procedures including such things as account numbers, location numbers and whether to capitalize expenses. This will improve business efficiency and help in maintaining expenses at or under budget.
  • Works closely with government officials to avoid fines and penalties that would have a negative impact on our company.
  • Ensures safety procedures and standard operating procedures are followed. Complies with all Auditing
  • Procedure reports identified in the Facilities Services Overview of Systems Procedures.
  • Effectively communicates the sequence of activities that will resolve the issue and provides status updates as appropriate.
  • Maintains technical expertise in several trade/equipment categories (e.g., electrical, refrigeration, balers, ovens, etc.).
  • Informs maintenance supervisors of any changes needed because of vendor changes.
  • Assists in development of accurate and attainable repair expense budgets and forecasts for retail facilities.
  • Ensures vendors and contractors are properly insured and SOX procedures for all new vendors are implemented.
  • Constantly reviews the department's tracking systems to identify, prioritize and troubleshoot cost effective ways to address service needs and achieve repair expense budgets.

  • Ability to prioritize and effectively handle multiple tasks and projects to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to interact with associates and management at all levels of the company.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Versatile and able to learn new processes and technical subject matter.
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to prioritize daily work-related functions, projects, and repair needs for their categories, while maintaining effective communication to all teams involved.
  • Ability to maintain a courteous disposition in stressful situations.
  • General PC skills.
  • Typing (CRT) is a MUST.
  • Professional telephone skills.
  • Customer service or call center experience.
  • Proficient in Excel and Word applications.
  • Basic accounting knowledge.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • 1 year technical or vocational education.
  • Highly developed organizational and analytical skills with ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with excellent follow-up and attention to detail.
  • Solid working knowledge of interior maintenance issues, repairs, contract bidding and negotiations relative to areas of responsibility.
  • Knowledge of financial impact of activities on company and ability to communicate same.
  • Proficient in Microsoft (word, excel, power point and MS mail).

ME/NC/PA/SC Salary Range: $16.97 - $25.44
Actual compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on their unique qualifications and experience, internal equity, and market conditions. Final compensation decisions will be made in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.
