We are seeking a talented individual to join our Reinsurance Claims Operations team at Marsh & McLennan Asia Business Services (MMABS). This role will be based in our Pavilion Damansara Corporate Towers, Kuala Lumpur office. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working as per respective team's arrangement.
Operations Specialist - Claims (Reinsurance)
We are seeking a talented, detail-focused individual to join our Reinsurance Claims Operations team. The role involves end-to-end handling of reinsurance claims across major lines, ensuring timely, accurate and compliant claim adjudication and settlement. You will work closely with internal teams, cedants and market stakeholders to facilitate fair outcomes and continuous process improvements.
We will count on you to:
1. Register, process and adjudicate reinsurance claims within agreed turnaround times.
2. Verify claim documentation, evaluate eligibility, determine coverage parameters and calculate claim settlements for reinsurance contracts (non-motor and other applicable lines).
3. Assist in determination of claim liabilities, values and service provider fees, set reserves within delegated authority and company/legal standards.
4. Ensure computed settlements and insurer reimbursements are accurate and supported.
5. Monitor outstanding claims and information gaps. Proactively follow up with reinsurers, cedants and service providers to drive timely resolution.
6. Prepare and maintain claims statistics and management reports (monthly and ad hoc), update documentation and process records.
7. Identify recurring issues or process inefficiencies and propose/implement practical solutions.
8. Negotiate claim settlements and manage dispute resolution where required, protecting the interests of the cedant and the firm.
9. Interact professionally with stakeholders across the business and external market to ensure smooth execution of claims processes.

1. Minimum 3 years’ experience handling reinsurance claims in a market/cedant/insurer environment, with demonstrable reinsurance claims exposure.
2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively across multicultural teams.
3. Process-driven, with robust compliance awareness and excellent documentation discipline.
4. Proven negotiation and dispute-resolution experience in claims contexts.
5. Proficient in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and comfortable using claims systems and analytical tools.
6. Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor junior colleagues, and to lead small projects or process-improvement initiatives.
