The opportunity:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Claims Governance & Oversight Manager (m/f/d), based in Munich.

We aim to be the most customer-focused and agile Claims team on the market, working proactively and collaboratively across Markel International while upholding the highest standards of integrity.  

Our Claims team partners with colleagues company-wide to achieve results and deliver outstanding service.
 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Working closely with Claims Divisional Heads, you will conduct a review of the delegated claims handling end to end process to include coverholder and TPA due diligence; performance against SLAs; production of delegated reports; production and oversight of the annual audit schedule. Post-review to carry out ongoing management of the delegated claims handling process and recommend any changes to our processes
  • End-to-end reviewing of the Claims Department’s Expert Panel process, collaborating with Claims Divisional Heads and Legal, Regulatory and Compliance conduct. Implement changes to ensure the Panel is fit for purpose and required TOBAs are in place. Post-review to carry out ongoing oversight of the Expert Panel
  • Managing the Claims peer review process, including completing a sample of peer reviews; collating and analysing the data; and where necessary working with the Claims Divisional Heads to ensure that peer reviews are completed and submitted within the quarterly cycle. Identifying any deficiencies and/or improvements and reporting on these to the Head of Claims Operations
  • Overseeing the Markel International SE Claims Handling Manual, to include collating any feedback from the Claims team regarding uncertainties or requests for clarification or ideas for improvement
  • Leading all aspects of the Claims Authority process, streamlining the process and improving as necessary to ensure maximum accuracy
  • Participating in Market working groups representing Markel International SE Claims in order to report back on any regulatory or market initiatives and respective impact
  • Project management of Claims change initiatives
  • Working with Claims Divisional Heads and Claims team members, to recommend, manage and deliver changes / upgrades / enhancements to Claims for systems and workflow tools and associated metrics and benefits

Our must-haves:

  • Extensive experience in a Claim’s operational environment or equivalent
  • Knowledge of the regulatory environment for Claims management and oversight
  • Familiarity with due diligence, performance management and audit requirements for outsourcing Claims handling to third parties
  • The ability to build, maintain and influence relationships across an organisation to achieve desired results
  • Experience in managing projects and delivering change initiatives
  • Strong Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel, and generally IT savvy
  • An aptitude and willingness to learn in-house and external Claims systems
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Fluency in English and German essential. Additional knowledge of either Dutch, French, Spanish or Italian an advantage
  • A positive attitude and a collaborative work ethic
  • The legal right to live and work in the country you are applying to
