About the Group/Team
Canva’s mission is to empower the world to design. With over 220 million users already on board, we have a bold vision to reach 1 billion users. The CJKI Group is dedicated to this mission, pouring our hearts and souls into driving hyperlocalization. We strive to make Canva feel like a local experience in China, Japan, South Korea, and India, ensuring that our platform resonates deeply with users in these regions.
About the Role/Specialty
In this role, you will be at the forefront of shaping how millions of people in China experience Canva. You will own the product experiences at the heart of that journey, from a user's first encounter with the product through to the moments that keep them coming back. Grounding your decisions in user insight and data, you will determine what is worth building, define it with clarity, and see it through to launch alongside our engineering, design and data teams.
Bringing that product judgement together with strong delivery discipline, you will also drive a number of cross-functional initiatives from concept to launch. You will bring structure to complex, multi-team work — anticipating risks and dependencies, sustaining momentum across functions, and raising the standard of how our team plans, tracks and communicates its work.
You will also serve as a bridge between the CJKI team and Canva's global product teams, bringing local insight to global decisions and shaping global launches so they resonate with local users. Together, we transform ideas into reality, making a tangible impact on Canva's success and the creative journeys of millions.
Job Description
What you’ll do (responsibilities)
- You’ll own the product experiences in your scope end-to-end — from building a deep understanding of Chinese user behaviour and pain points, to forming a clear view of what is worth building, to defining it in specs your team can act on. You’ll define the metrics that matter, design experiments that produce reliable answers, and decide what ships.
- You'll bring structure to ambiguous problems and take accountability for the trade-offs you make. Where the right answer isn't obvious, you'll form a considered view, test it, and stand behind the result.
- You'll drive cross-functional initiatives to timely, high-quality delivery, working across engineering, design, data and marketing. You'll raise risks early and keep stakeholders informed in writing. You'll also help raise the standard of how our team plans, tracks and documents its work.
- You'll partner closely with Canva's global product teams. You'll represent the China context with evidence, shape global launches so they work well for local users, and drive alignment without direct reporting authority.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who combines strong product instincts with the discipline to make complex, multi-team work happen. You should be comfortable making decisions with imperfect information, and equally comfortable holding a plan together when several teams depend on it.
Skills, Competencies, and Attributes:
- Product Sense: You can work out what to build and why, not just execute a requirement someone else has defined. You can point to a product decision you made yourself and what came of it.
- Structured Thinking: You break ambiguous problems down methodically, reasoning through edge cases before committing to a direction — and you pick up unfamiliar domains quickly.
- Consumer Product Experience: 3+ years of product or closely related experience, including owning consumer (B2C) products end-to-end, with a deep understanding of Chinese users and the local landscape.
- Data Fluency: You pull and interrogate your own data, design clean experiments, and combine quantitative signal with user insight to make decisions.
- Program and Delivery Management: You can run several workstreams at once, hold a realistic view of scope, dependencies and timelines, and raise risks early with options rather than late with excuses.
- Stakeholder Influence: You build trust quickly across functions and drive alignment without formal authority, keeping everyone working from the same picture.
- Communication and Documentation: You write specs people understand on one read, keep work tracked, and keep stakeholders updated before they have to ask. Fluent English and comfortable working with teams outside China.
Nice-to-have
- A technical background, or enough grounding to hold a substantive conversation with engineering.
- Experience in growth or subscription domains.
- Experience handling regional differentiation and localisation in a global product.
By bringing these skills and attributes to Canva, you will play a crucial role in driving our product initiatives forward and contributing to our mission of empowering the world to design.
