What you will be doing at Woodard & Curran:
- A mid-level Engineer is typically assigned specific tasks on project teams and is expected to use their knowledge to resolve the problems and tasks they are assigned under the mentorship of senior staff. Fieldwork, data management, report writing and interaction with project staff will play an important role in the candidate’s success. Potential assignments in this role may include:
- Perform engineering calculations and technical evaluations in support of projects.
- Performing remediation monitoring and overseeing contractors.
- Assisting in the preparation of various regulatory submittals, technical memorandums, and/or engineering design reports.
- Managing, analyzing, evaluating, and interpreting data for use in reports and other visualizations including maps, charts, and 3D models.
- Verify calculation briefs developed by peers.
- Research design options and document findings for Project Manager/Engineer.
- Provide information to Project Manager/Engineer for incorporation into specifications.
- Assist in the development of technical documents.
- Support business development activities.
- Assist field investigations and provide construction oversight by following safety policies and a thorough understanding of specifications and thorough documentation of contractor activities and safety procedures.
- Collecting samples of soil, groundwater, and other environmental media in support of site investigation and remediation objectives.
- Travel to job sites is required to support ongoing and potential project work activities.
- Candidate should be a self-starter and possess strong technical and writing skills to support a wide range of science and engineering projects. A successful candidate will also be detail-oriented, have excellent verbal communication skills combined with a positive attitude, and ability to work both independently and within teams.
What you will need to succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably civil engineering with an environmental and stormwater design emphasis, from an accredited program. EIT certification and MS desirable.
- 3 - 10 years of professional experience with an environmental/engineering consulting firm.
- Experience working around construction equipment and/or in a construction environment.
- Familiarity with and a working knowledge of CERCLA.
- Detail oriented with excellent organizational, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Experience in the development and implementation of project work plans, schedules, and budgets is a plus.
- Experience with ArcGIS , AutoCAD, modeling and/or database software is a plus
- Experience with programming languages is a plus (preferably Python, R, and/or SQL)
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER training is a plus.
