More than 25,000 hospitals across all 50 states rely on Vetcove daily, supporting tens of thousands of veterinarians who care for tens of millions of pets each year.

We are modernizing the 50 billion dollar plus animal health industry by giving veterinary organizations the tools to focus more on patient care. Backed by Y Combinator and top venture investors in Silicon Valley, New York and Miami, Vetcove is a fast-growing, mission-driven company. We are searching for talented and passionate people who want to help shape the future of veterinary care.

About the Role

Vetcove is seeking an exceptional Chief of Staff to design, build, and lead the internal operations of our growing company. Reporting directly to the CEO, you’ll be a trusted confidant to the leadership team, with meaningful authority to shape how Vetcove works day-to-day.

Your mandate is to make the organization run exceptionally well. You’ll build the systems, processes, and coordination that help our teams move faster, resolve problems before they reach the founders, and turn leadership’s priorities into well-executed internal initiatives. Your work will create more capacity for our leadership team to focus on strategy, major decisions, customer relationships, and the next stage of Vetcove’s growth.

This is a senior, hands-on operating role with a seat at the table in leadership team meetings and close involvement in the decisions that shape how we operate. You’ll lead a small internal operations team while personally driving projects and solving problems across the company. As you build context and trust, you’ll represent the CEO and other leaders in meetings, lead projects on their behalf, and make decisions within your delegated authority.

We’re looking for an exceptional self-starter who creates momentum without waiting for instructions. You’ll need the judgment to act independently, the resourcefulness to work through ambiguity, and the follow-through to deliver without close supervision. Success means becoming the person leadership trusts to run internal operations and the person our teams count on to bring clarity, remove obstacles, and make things happen.

What You’ll Do
  • Build How Vetcove Operates: Design and improve the internal systems, policies, and processes that support a growing, fully remote company. Create clear ownership, effective coordination, and practical structure that helps teams do their best work.

  • Own Internal Operations: Take responsibility for day-to-day operational decisions and execution. Proactively identify what needs attention, resolve issues independently, and keep work moving without waiting for leadership to assign the next step.

  • Act on Leadership’s Behalf: Step in for the CEO and other leaders to represent their priorities, lead meetings, advance projects, and make decisions within your delegated authority. Build the context to exercise sound judgment and recognize when a decision needs their input.

  • Drive Cross-Functional Execution: Lead internal initiatives from an initial idea through completion. Align the right people, resolve dependencies, and ensure decisions translate into action.

  • Be a Trusted Partner to Leadership: Participate in leadership team meetings, contribute an informed operational perspective, and take ownership of complex and sensitive matters with discretion. Turn incomplete direction into a plan and keep leadership informed without requiring constant involvement.

  • Lead and Develop the Operations Team: Set priorities and raise the standard of execution across administration, people operations support, and company events. Build the team’s capabilities while staying closely involved in its most important work.

  • Strengthen the Employee Experience: Oversee the programs, gatherings, and internal practices that help people feel connected, supported, and effective at Vetcove.

  • Elevate Internal Communication: Drive preparation of all-hands presentations, leadership updates, and other company communications. Turn leadership’s direction and inputs from across the business into clear, polished materials.

  • Solve Problems at Their Source: Identify recurring friction, gaps in ownership, and emerging operational risks. Build lasting solutions that reduce the need for escalation and help the company run more smoothly as it grows.

You Should Have
  • Bachelors Degree

  • A record of owning complex operations or cross-functional initiatives and delivering excellent results with limited oversight.

  • Exceptional judgment, discretion, and integrity, with the ability to earn the confidence of senior leaders and handle sensitive matters thoughtfully.

  • A highly proactive, self-directed approach. You anticipate needs, determine the next steps, and follow through without repeated prompting or detailed instructions.

  • The ability to turn ambiguity into clear priorities, practical processes, and decisive action, seeking input where it matters and moving independently where it doesn’t.

  • The presence and confidence to represent senior leadership, lead consequential conversations, and make sound decisions within your authority.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, paired with the judgment to focus on what matters most.

  • The credibility and interpersonal skills to work across functions, resolve disagreements, and hold people accountable with clarity and respect.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create compelling presentations and concise recommendations.

  • The ability to lead a small team while remaining a resourceful, hands-on operator who takes personal ownership of results.

  • Experience in a demanding, growing organization where you improved how the business operated and earned increasing responsibility.

We value demonstrated capability, judgment, and ownership over a particular title, career path, or number of years of experience.

What We Do

Vetcove is a Y Combinator and venture-backed growth stage company with notable investors in Silicon Valley and NYC. Our mission is to provide veterinary hospitals and nonprofits with technology that helps them succeed through our eCommerce and mobile platforms. Our community includes more than 17,000 veterinary hospitals and nonprofits whose staff collectively deliver care to tens of millions of animals every year across all 50 states. Simply put, Vetcove helps personnel at veterinary organizations spend more time helping patients, and less time shopping and comparing across vendors to supply their practices. We're completely revolutionizing the way veterinarians discover and buy products, and how animal health brands engage their veterinary customers. We believe that the work veterinarians and their staff do, caring for America’s pets, is an essential and noble calling. We strive to be a catalyst for change in this $50B+ industry by placing veterinary professionals at the center of everything we do, and enabling them with powerful technology and delightful user experiences that help them do their jobs better. Our Vetcove team has a passion for disruption, because we know that what we do matters. Everything we do, we do as a team. Together, we create paths to success by going above-and-beyond for our users, and finding new ways to evolve our technology by redefining the boundaries of what others believe is possible. We champion transparency–both internally and externally–because we so highly value the trust our partners place in us, as well as the trust Vetcove team members place in each other. We disrupt with humility–and are enjoying the journey of growing our impact, rather than focusing solely on the destination. We're looking for exceptionally talented and passionate people to join our quickly growing team.
