Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
The Chief Officer should have a thorough understanding of company procedures, SOLAS, MARPOL, flag state regulations, and emergency response protocols. Proficiency in bridge operations, risk assessment, cargo and ballast operations, tank cleaning, and basic troubleshooting of deck and cargo equipment is essential. Competence in routine maintenance, waste management, and mooring operations, alongside strong communication, team coordination, and mentoring skills, is required. Adaptability to new technology and software is also essential.
Experience: Demonstrated leadership in safely navigating through diverse sea conditions, with consistent capability to manage deck operations and efficiently oversee cargo and ballast handling. Proven record of mentoring and developing the technical and soft skills of officers and crew. Demonstrates ability to achieve commercial objectives while upholding safety and regulatory standards, with a clear understanding of compliance requirements for environmental protection. High reliability in urgent situations, ensuring the security and safety of the vessel and crew.
