Role Complexity:

  • Extract value from what we already have through focused enterprise-wide activities such as: business optimisation projects, contracts review and negotiation, capital/budget efficiency activities etc.

  • Innovation – identifying and taking advantage of new business opportunities at the enterprise-level e.g. new business opportunities, products launched, product/process innovation, structural changes etc.

Overall Objective

  • Ensures strategic alignment to the long-term vision and strategic intent linked to a broad holistic perspective. Leads thinking around control of capital revenue, expenditure and cost reduction. Ensures compliance and relationships at a macro community, industry, government, and regulatory level. 

 

  • Manages the execution and implementation of strategy through working with and across functions, multiple processes, discipline technologies, products, and customer segments, whilst concurrently leading the introduction of new/future processes, technologies, products, and customers segments.

Financial Perspective:

  • Drive increase in Shareholder return by ensuring that IT Processes are aligned to achieve all elements on the business score card. (E.g., Grow Service Revenue, Improve Customer Experience, Increase PAT, Ensure Operating Cashflow and Grow Subscriber base).

  • Define and lead the strategic direction for IT investments, ensuring alignment with MTN Cameroon’s corporate objectives to maximize market share, diversify revenue streams from ICT, digital services, and data, and optimize EBITDA margins.

  • Drive shareholder value by aligning IT capabilities with transformative business imperatives, including CAPEX efficiency, sustainable cost management, and maximizing return on digital and technology investments.

  • Lead high-level negotiations with technology and ecosystem partners to secure value-driven contracts, fostering financial growth while advancing MTN Cameroon’s technology-driven initiatives.

  • Propose, approve, and oversee IT budgets, ensuring that resource allocation prioritizes digital transformation, innovation, and operational efficiency while maintaining strict financial discipline.

  • Champion enterprise-wide process optimization initiatives, leveraging automation, AI-driven insights, and digital tools to achieve measurable financial efficiency, including a targeted 5% year-on-year reduction in divisional budgets.

 

Internal Perspective

  • Architect and oversee the execution of an enterprise IT vision that integrates emerging technologies, including AI, IoT, hybrid cloud, automation, and edge computing, to position MTN Cameroon as a technology leader.

  • Design and implement a robust IT strategy that aligns with MTN’s drive toward digital transformation, ensuring agility, scalability, and responsiveness to rapidly evolving market needs.

  • Develop governance frameworks, policies, and procedures to guide IT operations, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, compliance, and delivery of high-quality services.

  • Spearhead the adoption of innovative digital platforms, enabling cloud-native and microservices architectures to enhance operational agility and support a diverse range of digital services.

  • Build a comprehensive IT risk management strategy, embedding cybersecurity, compliance, and business continuity into all processes to protect MTN Cameroon’s operations and reputation.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Education:

  • Fluent in English 

  • First degree in Information Systems

  • Accreditation in IT from a recognized body

  • An MBA or a master’s qualification in a related field is required

Experience: 

Minimum of 12 years’ experience within a reputable and structured business environment 

  • At least 5 years strategic management experience in a Telco or Digital Business

  • At least 3 years’ experience in relevant sector/ industry 

  • Experience working in a global/multinational enterprise with a good understanding of emerging markets 

  • Worked across diverse cultures and geographies.

  • Proven track record of a start-up, shutdown and/or business improvement project

Skills Required
