Position SummaryThe Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team and a strategic partner to the President & CEO and Board of Directors, providing vision, leadership, and oversight of the organization's financial operations, systems, and reporting. The CFO will lead a team of approximately 15 employees across four departments — Finance and Accounting, Inventory, Organizational Excellence, and Technology and Data Reporting — and will play a central role in ensuring the financial infrastructure, controls, and reporting capabilities needed to support the organization's ambitious growth trajectory and mission impact.
Key ResponsibilitiesProvide strategic financial leadership as a core member of the Executive Leadership Team, directly supporting the President & CEO and Board of Directors in advancing the organization's vision to nearly double the number of people served.
Lead, mentor, and develop a staff of approximately 15 employees across four departments: Finance and Accounting, Inventory, Organizational Excellence, and Technology and Data Reporting.
Direct and oversee all accounting and financial reporting functions, including:
Accounts payable and accounts receivable
Treasury management and cash flow oversight
Payroll administration
Grants management and compliance
Contracts management
Insurance and risk management
Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial statements, internal controls, and compliance with GAAP and all applicable regulatory and funder requirements
Lead annual budgeting, financial forecasting, and long-range financial planning in alignment with the organization's strategic growth goals.
Prepare and deliver clear, meaningful, and actionable financial presentations and analyses to Executive Management and the Board of Directors
Drive continuous improvement of financial systems, processes, and technology to support scalability as the organization grows.
Champion a strong internal control and risk management environment across the organization, including oversight of inventory-related financial controls.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred.
A minimum of 15 years of progressive financial leadership experience, including significant tenure in a senior finance executive role (CFO, VP of Finance, or similar)
Experience within a nonprofit, social enterprise, or other mission-driven organization of comparable scale and complexity.
Proven track record leading, developing, and retaining high-performing, multi-departmental teams.
Strong experience preparing and presenting financial information to Boards of Directors and senior executive audiences.
Exceptional analytical, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insight for non-financial audiences.
Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and executive presence.
Unquestionable integrity, sound judgment, and discretion, with a genuine passion for the organization's mission and a commitment to data-driven impact.
