JOB PURPOSE 

Provide overall financial stewardship of the affiliate by safeguarding the integrity of financial reporting, value creation and ensuring regulatory compliance. Act as a strategic partner to the CEO and Board in driving sustainable risk-adjusted profitability. The CFO is the primary interface with the Board, regulators, external auditors and Group Finance. The role is also accountable for full compliance with Group accounting policies, IFRS and the internal control framework.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial reporting & accounting governance

•    Own the integrity of the general ledger, reconciliations, month-end/quarter-end/year-end close, and statutory reporting.
•    Ensure full compliance with IFRS and with Group accounting policy.
•    Certify the accuracy and completeness of financial statements submitted to the Board, regulator and Group.

Regulatory compliance & regulator engagement

•    Serve as principal finance interface with the central bank and other regulators; own all prudential and statutory returns.
•    Maintain a zero-tolerance position on regulatory breaches, penalties and late filings.
•    Manage external and statutory audits, regulatory examinations, and timely remediation of all findings.

Capital, liquidity & balance sheet management

•    Ensure an optimal capital structure and compliance with regulatory capital requirements to maintain solvency and liquidity.
•    Manage capital allocation to support growth while minimising cost of capital; maintain CET1 ≥ regulatory minimum plus Group buffer.
•    Co-chair/participate in ALCO; oversee liquidity monitoring, funding cost, and balance sheet optimisation.

Planning, budgeting & performance management

•    Own the medium-term financial plan, annual budget, and rolling forecast cycle.
•    Drive scenario modelling and stress testing, variance analysis, and cost-to-income discipline.
•    Translate strategy into measurable financial targets cascaded to business and support units.

Business partnering & commercial finance

•    Ensure finance is embedded in and drives commercial decision-making, pricing, product profitability, client and segment returns.
•    Provide forward-looking insight that converts into measurable revenue uplift and profitability improvement.

Tax Management 

•    Ensure accurate, timely tax filings and reporting; optimise tax strategy within full legal compliance.
Data, systems & finance transformation
•    Own financial reporting systems, dashboards and data integrity; drive automation and process improvement across the finance function.
Investor relations (listed affiliates only)
•    Manage investor communications, disclosures, earnings calls and market engagement. Applies only where the affiliate is listed.

Leadership & talent

•    Build and retain a high-calibre finance team; define and cascade KPIs to all direct reports in line with this scorecard.
•    Own succession planning for all critical finance roles.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS 

Education: Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, Economics or related; MBA or master’s preferred.
•    Professional certification (mandatory): ACA / ACCA / CPA / CIMA or equivalent recognized qualification; local statutory registration where the regulator requires it.

Experience: Minimum 12-15 years in finance, of which at least 5 years at senior leadership level in banking or financial services
•    Technical depth: IFRS (with strong IFRS 9), Basel capital and liquidity frameworks, regulatory reporting, treasury/ALM, tax, and finance systems
