He/She will ensure financial sustainability through effective fundraising and resource mobilization efforts.The CEO is expected to build and nurture relationships with donors, partners, and stakeholders, ensuring that the NGO’s mission is well-funded and impactful. A major focus will be on expanding funding opportunities, strengthening donor engagement, and diversifying revenue streams.

 

Responsibilities;

  • Provide executive leadership and coordination of management.
  • In collaboration with the Board and technical team, develop and implement a comprehensive strategy aligned with the organization's mission to deliver education programs effectively.
  • Guide organizational development and capacity building activities for the organization as it expands its size and breadth and foster a culture that encourages collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Representation of the organization in national and international forums and influence policies related to education and advocate for education as a tool for peace and development.
  • Be the authorized representative of the organization in relations to third parties and courts of law for all the transactions whatsoever, including the transactions executed in notarial form relating to acquisition, administration and expenditure of resources of the organization.
  • Ensure all programs and initiatives support the dual objectives of improving education, particularly in vulnerable communities.
  • Supervise the technical team and ensure that the program meets the targets and deliverables outlined in the Strategic Plan, donor agreements and satisfies other program commitments.
  • Ensure that the adequate technical, financial, and material inputs and assistance are provided for the implementation of programmatic activities. 
  • Oversee the development and implementation of educational programs, ensuring they are relevant, inclusive, and scalable.
  • Identify diverse sources of funding in view of identified needs including donor relations, proposal writing, and identifying new revenue streams, to secure resources for the organization’s mission.
  • Ensure strong systems are in place for monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on program impact, learning, and adapting accordingly.
  • Establish a rigorous set of policies and procedures for financial, donor requirements administrative and grant management which is consistent with the organization's core values.
  • Work with the staff and Board to prepare and monitor organizational budgets and ensure that the organization operates within budget guideline and ensure financial sustainability.
  • Conduct official correspondence for the organization, and execute legal documents.
  • Develop a respectful and professional working relationship with sub-grantees and partners.
  • Recruit, manage and motivate a diverse staff of high quality people and equipped to execute their roles in education delivery.
  • Prepare for the anticipated growth of the organization through the development and implementation of policies and procedures, including training, staff development, recruitment and termination, succession planning, and performance management for all staff.
  • Supervise staff on the senior leadership team and ensure the newly approved organogram is implemented.  
  • With the Chairperson of the Board of Directors, enable the Board to fulfill its governance function and ensure transparent and effective governance of the organization.
  • Ensure the Board is informed at least quarterly on various matters for the organization and its directives thereafter are followed and implemented and supporting the Board’s evaluation of the CEO.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and donor requirements and that the organization adheres to high ethical and professional standards.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including governments, donors, local communities, international organizations, and educational institutions.
  • Collaborate with other NGOs, civil society organizations, and stakeholders working in education to maximize impact.
  • Assure that the organization and its mission and programs are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to stakeholders.


Requirements
  • Advanced degree in International Development, Education, Peace Studies, or related fields.
  • At least 10 years of senior leadership experience in an NGO, with a strong track record in education or any related fields.
  • Thorough experience in engaging with donors.
  • Strategic leadership and visioning.
  • Strong financial and operational management skills.
  • Proven fundraising and resources mobilization experience.
  • Excellent communication and advocacy skills.
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including governments, international organizations, and local communities.

 



Skills Required

  • Advanced degree in International Development, Education, Peace Studies, or related fields
