As Chief Accountant Slovakia, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and compliance of Avon’s financial reporting and statutory accounting activities. Acting as a trusted finance expert, you will oversee statutory and corporate accounting requirements, lead audit and compliance activities, and provide guidance on accounting, tax, and regulatory matters. Working closely with local and global finance teams, shared service partners, auditors, and external advisors, you will help drive operational excellence, strengthen financial controls, and continuously improve accounting processes in a dynamic multinational environment.This is a 2-year fixed-term position with the potential for a 1-year extension based in Bratislava or Prague.
Key responsibilities:
- Ensuring accurate, complete, and up-to-date accounting records in line with statutory requirements and Avon corporate policies.
- Reviewing monthly financial closing reports and supporting corporate reporting activities.
- Owning and managing US GAAP to statutory accounting adjustments and related processes.
- Preparing and submitting statutory financial statements and other local regulatory filings in accordance with applicable deadlines.
- Leading annual statutory audit activities and acting as the primary contact for external auditors.
- Managing financial inspections, audits, and regulatory reviews.
- Preparing commentary and sign-off documentation for quarterly certification processes.
- Providing analysis and commentary on actual financial results and variances to support financial planning and analysis activities.
- Preparing statutory forecasts and supporting financial outlook processes.
- Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations completed by Global Business Services and Centers of Excellence teams.
- Acting as a control owner for assigned financial controls, including SOX compliance activities, remediation plans, audit board submissions, and control enhancements.
- Ensuring adherence to internal policies, local regulations, and global compliance frameworks.
- Monitoring changes in local accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements and implementing necessary updates to business processes.
- Building and maintaining effective relationships with external statutory service providers and advisors.
- Providing accounting and tax guidance for business initiatives and projects.
- Collaborating with finance, tax, internal controls, GBS, Centers of Excellence, and market teams to improve processes and share best practices.
- Identifying opportunities to increase efficiency, standardisation, and process quality across the accounting function.
- Staying current with accounting standards, regulatory developments, and industry best practices through continuous learning and professional development.
- Diploma or degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline.
- Professional accounting qualification or certification.
- At least 4 years of experience within accounting or finance functions, ideally in a multinational organisation.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP accounting standards.
- Solid understanding of statutory accounting, financial reporting, and audit processes.
- Experience working with accounting and financial reporting systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken.
- Experience working effectively in a multicultural and international environment.
