Part-Time I First Shift
Emergency Department I Lexington, KY
An Emergency department (ED) that provides 24-hour emergency care to patients who need urgent medical attention for severe injuries or illness.
Description:
- Manages shift operations for department/unit, adjusting staff assignments as acuity, census, staffing and priorities change,
- Assists in identifying staff to supplement schedule, including call-in coverage. Communicates all staffing schedule changes to Clinical House Supervisor and/or Staffing Office.
- Coordinates meal and break time for all assigned staff.
- Delegates responsibilities within scope of practice and provides guidance to co-workers in assessment, clinical skills, and problem solving and networks with preceptors of new staff to facilitate orientation.
- Collaborates with all disciplines and departments to resolve issues affecting patient flow and throughput.
- Rounds with a purpose utilizing key questions to obtain feedback from patients and families.
- Resolve any issues at point of care.
- Exemplifies excellent interpersonal communication both verbal and written.
- Promotes open communication that facilitates staff input into decision making, conflict resolution and teamwork among staff.
- Communicates current unit issues to Director, CHS, +/or designee.
- Maintains confidentiality and privacy in both staff and patient interactions.
- Collaborates with unit educator re: unit needs.
- Reports to work on time and flexes schedule frequently.
- Exhibits courtesy and discretion in interactions with families, patients, physicians and others.
- Accepts feedback constructively.
- Responds effectively and promptly to requests. Facilitates bed placement and patient flow on unit in collaboration of the Clinical House Supervisor and ACC.
Requirements:
- One year of experience
- Current RN licensure or work permit in Kentucky.
- Bachelor's or an associate degree in nursing from an accredited college/university.
- Applicants with an associate degree in nursing and less than 10 years of experience must enroll within 12 months of hire in a bachelor’s degree program and must have achieved the degree within 5 years.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.
- BLS/ACLS/PALS and/or other designated unit specific certifications, training and requirements specific to unit.
