The Financial Aid COE VA Specialist is responsible for counseling veteran students and their families through reentry to Full Sail or in changing their enrollment at Full Sail. The COE VA Specialist will guide veteran students through various financing options.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Reviews change of enrollment inquiries within 48 hours of being received
  • Conducts student contact/meetings to review financial aid and VA benefits before generating a change of enrollment
  • Responsible for evaluating potential challenges and ways to overcome
  • Responsible for determining the most opportune time for change of enrollment to occur
  • Provides student with any documents that would be required to calculate financial aid and VA benefits
  • Understand the withdrawal calculation procedures
  • Discussion of software and laptops
  • Calculate tuition adjustments
  • Process enrollment changes
  • Educate and communicate with students through the process of securing federal/alternative funding and/or VA benefits for change of enrollment while ensuring a positive service experience
  • Maintain current knowledge of all Title IV regulations and institutional policies, as well as enforcing college, state, and federal policies

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree plus two years of experience in a customer service position, or equivalent combination of experience and education
  • Must be in good standing in all Federal Title IV programs and remain current with federal, state, and institutional financial aid regulations

Computer/Equipment Skills:

  • Proficiency using software programs such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook

Environmental Factors/Physical Demands:

Work is performed in an office environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to have the ability to maintain active customer and employee communication; access, input and retrieve information from the computer system; enter alpha-numeric data into a computerized system often while listening on the telephone. May be subject to bending, reaching, kneeling, stooping and lifting up to thirty (30) pounds. This position requires sitting for long periods of time at a workstation and computer. Must be able to maintain a flexible schedule and work a 40 hour work week that may include some overtime, nights, and weekends.
