Your Role

As ING Korea CFO, you are responsible for finance and tax activities for both Seoul branch and Seoul Securities. This role will oversee the finance function comprising financial, tax and regulatory reporting, management accounting & advice, product control, controls and finance change teams, with team size of 9 members. Your focus will be on the execution of the Korea finance strategy, implementing robust, up to date and efficient regulatory reporting frameworks and pro-actively providing finance insights and support to senior business stakeholders.

As ING Korea CFO, you will have statutory responsibilities towards Korean regulators including FSS, BOK, NTS etc for all finance matters and play a key role to external auditors. You will also be a member of the Korea Management Team and Korea NFRC (Non-Financial Risk Committee).

You are result-oriented and have sound knowledge and experience in the Financial sector. You excel at leading teams and developing individuals. At the same time, you are detail orientated, transformational and capable of approaching issues from analytical and strategic perspective and then defining concrete solutions that are practical to implement. You are independent, like to work on multiple tasks and can pro-actively manage multiple stakeholders.

Your most important tasks will include: ­

  • Develop and implement a robust finance strategy and functional plan to deliver effective financial operations across all businesses and functions in the company.
  • Assume financial end responsibility of the legal entities. Manage and develop the finance team, ensuring effective collaboration and a strong internal control environment.
  • Manage the relationship with the external and internal service providers that form part of the overall financial management framework.
  • Deliver high quality financial and regulatory reporting towards local regulators in a timely manner to ensure regulatory compliance and meeting relevant ING minimum standards. This will include advisory on corporate income tax and transaction taxes related to international transactions
  • Timely and correct financial and tax accounting and reporting in compliance with local regulations, local GAAP and IFRS in compliance with relevant ING minimum standards.
  • Prepare, execute and improve the planning cycle (budgeting, forecasting).
  • Pro-actively advise local management team and business teams on finance related topics. Collaborate cross functions (e.g. front office, operations, risks teams) to ensure timely delivery of cross function targets.
  • Implement ING finance strategy and drive change projects (e.g. finance digitization and transformation).

  • Senior finance professional with solid track record in leading finance functions, who interacts comfortably with different levels of seniority within an organisation and are comfortable in managing the relationship with both internal stakeholders while also able to engage externally with local regulators.
  • Qualified Accountant (KICPA, CPA etc) with financial services experience.
  • Significant technical accounting and regulatory reporting experience with excellent analytical and interpretive ability. Product and accounting knowledge of wholesale banking products is preferred
  • Proven collaboration skills, capability of dealing with multiple stakeholders and business units across the region.
  • Able to build strong relationships based on trust with peers and team members.
  • Team leader with proven track record of developing and building Finance capability in complex organisations. Able to motivate and engage people.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Experienced with immediate credibility and ability to take standalone ownership.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills with demonstrated proficiency in managing multiple projects & teams simultaneously.
  • Strong English and Korean written and oral communication skills with proven success in influencing business decisions.
  • Successful candidate will be results focused, with high energy, flexible and with good work prioritization skills.

Skills Required

  • Qualified accountant (KICPA, CPA or equivalent) with financial services experience.
  • Proven senior finance leadership with track record leading finance functions and managing teams.
  • Significant technical accounting experience (IFRS and local GAAP) and regulatory reporting for financial institutions.
  • Experience with financial and corporate tax advisory, including transaction tax matters for international transactions.
  • Experience managing relationships with regulators (FSS, BOK, NTS) and external auditors.
  • Ability to develop and implement finance strategy, controls, and robust regulatory reporting frameworks.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and project management skills; experience driving finance change and digitization initiatives.
  • Excellent presentation, communication and stakeholder management skills in English and Korean (written and oral).
  • Proven ability to collaborate across front office, operations and risk teams and influence senior management.
  • Product and accounting knowledge of wholesale banking products.
