Job Purpose: 

You will drive certification strategy, enforce best practices, influence a wide range of stakeholders and provide effective leadership of internal and external certification activities for the Americas region.   You will do this by working collaboratively as part of a high performing team while supporting engineering design, development and sustainment.

You will be responsible for all aspects of certification related to the lifecycle management of products, including:

  • Submitting and managing certification requests and enhancements for new and existing products
  • Developing innovative certification processes and procedures
  • Advising and guiding engineering and cross-functional business teams on certification strategies, principles and best practices
  • Solving and leading the teams through complex certification challenges
  • Collaborating with key project and business stakeholders
  • Delivering continuous improvement of the certification processes using appropriate tools and techniques

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Fulfill all certification requirements of a product’s life cycle from research and conceptualization through end-of-life.
  • Manage product certifications for all targeted countries and regions and sites of manufacturing.
  • Lead certification initiatives and contribute to project plans and timelines with a focus on timely delivery.
  • Lead certification reviews to ensure that Rotork designs and solutions comply with specifications and relevant standards.
  • Develop and provide cost estimates for certifications and contribute to engineering budget setting and reviews.
  • Present analysis and guidance to key stakeholders such as technical leads, senior leaders, cross-functional teams and customers as necessary.
  • Collaborate with program managers, project leads and third-party certification bodies to fulfill certification activities.
  • Ensure functional and non-functional test specifications meet compliance requirements.
  • Develop and prepare certification records and reports as required to demonstrate compliance with associated specifications and any relevant standards.
  • Support designs to meet internationally recognized standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Engineering or related field preferred or equivalent experience considered.
  • Five years of relevant experience working with Notified / Certification Bodies, testing laboratories, and relevant standards, especially with respect to hazardous locations.
  • Technical certification and approvals experience with some or all the following:  UL, FM, CSA, ATEX, IECEx.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing, designing, testing, and enhancing existing / new products used in hazardous area environments.
  • Knowledge of the approvals process with notified bodies using structured methodologies.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft tools, e.g., Excel, Word, SharePoint, Project, etc.
  • Experience with task management, defect management, requirements capture, verification and validation tools.
  • Willingness to travel.

Skills Required
