Doncasters Precision Castings of Groton is excited to announce that they are seeking an experienced Ceramics Engineer to add to their team based in Groton, CT. We are seeking an individual who has a sound technical understanding of ceramics, with the ability to apply that understanding to practical application.

This is a full-time hands-on position where you will be responsible for developing and optimizing ceramic materials and processes for investment casting applications within the aerospace industry. Do you have an industrial Engineering background with experience in the manufacturing industry and the casting process. Do you have a strong educational background with a bachelor’s degree in Material Science, Ceramic Engineering, or a related field. Do you also have an eye for detail and have confidence in your analytical skills.

This is a key component to our process, and we are looking for committed, enthusiastic employees.  As a Ceramics Engineer, you will partner with Leadership while working within an experienced team.  You will receive continuous feedback to help you grow and develop to maximize your potential. This individual will work with motivated employees and our Management Team to become a part of a successful Industrial Casting Company with a good work life balance.

As a Ceramics Engineer, you will work in a key role ensuring the preparation of parts with ceramic applications to ensure customer specifications are met. Using your expertise and knowledge, as well as your keen eye for detail, you will follow set specifications to ensure products are produced within process parameters, using a variety of drawings, tools, and techniques.


Responsibilities:

  • Designing, analyzing, and modifying ceramic Molds and cores to meet set requirements.
  • Collaborating with various teams to provide technical expertise in ceramic materials, design manufacturability and process optimization.
  • Performing testing and evaluation of ceramic materials to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Supporting the implementation of new technologies, materials, and processes to drive continuous improvement in investment casting.

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Material Science, Ceramic Engineering, or related field
  • Industrial engineering background with experience in manufacturing and the casting process
  • Sound technical understanding of ceramics and ceramic materials
  • Experience designing, analyzing, and modifying ceramic molds and cores
  • Experience performing testing and evaluation of ceramic materials to meet quality standards
  • Experience with investment casting processes, preferably for aerospace components
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
