Entrepreneurial CEO for Bobby Neonatal
We are seeking a dynamic and driven CEO to join us in helping us build a venture that aims to bring to life an invention that automatizes the tactile stimulation currently performed by nurses to alleviate apnea in newborns.
The invention
Bobby Neonatal is an acoustic stimulation device mimicking the tactical stimulation performed by nurses in order to end apnea. An automated, direct response can shorten the period of apnea and prevent the onset or exacerbation of hypoxia and bradycardia. Implementing such a system will aid the nursing staff by reducing the number of alarms and the need for manual intervention. Care can be improved both for infants with frequent episodes of apnea as for the infants who need to wait while the nurse is called away by yet another alarm.
CEO role and competencies
The CEO will be responsible for developing and executing the overall business strategy, actively supported by NLC Health Ventures and partnering with the inventor team and other strategic partners. The ideal candidate is highly motivated to make an impact on patients, have commercial success, and have the follow competencies:
- Entrepreneurial and able to demonstrate expertise in both non-dilutive and dilutive fundraising
- Living in the Netherlands
- Experience with FDA and other US regulatory and implementation pathways is crucial
- Experience in the neonatology is highly desirable
- Provide guidance and leadership during early clinical stages, ensuring a smooth transition through each step in the lifecycle of the venture
- Navigate partnerships with CROs, and plan the clinical trials with a commercial mindset
- Leverage previous business development expertise to explore licensing agreements, collaborations, and strategic partnerships with relevant parties in the Life Sciences industry

The ideal startup CEO should be eager to lead this venture because it could greatly improve healthcare in the field of neonatology by immediate treatment of apnea and reduction of the workload for nurses. Apnea is amongst the most prevalent and recurrent problems of premature infants due to their immature respiratory system. Although tactile stimulation has been recommended and applied for years, treatment of apnea on demand remains an ongoing challenge due to the selective and delayed response of nurses caused by the high workload at neonatology departments.
