CEO - M3 Informatica
Location: Madrid, Spain
About M3 Informatica:
M3 Informática is a Spanish vertical SaaS company delivering HR, payroll, and workforce management software purpose-built for the public sector including healthcare authorities and local government. The company has served its public administration clients for over three decades, operates on a highly recurring subscription model, and holds a strong market position within its vertical. Not a single client has ever churned. M3 is now entering its first chapter of international ownership under Banyan Software, combining three decades of deep regulatory lock-in with the operational and AI expertise of a global software group.
The Opportunity
You will join M3 Informática directly as CEO, reporting to a Banyan Operating Leader with full operational authority over how you run the business. The business has to be durable, the product has to be the primary competitive advantage, and the opportunity to create structural distance through AI is real. You will own the most important client relationships from day one, build the commercial infrastructure from scratch, and partner your CTO to define the platform's next decade.
What You Will Own
Commercial & Revenue Growth
- Own the company’s strategic direction, market positioning, and competitive response in the Spanish public sector vertical SaaS market.
- Drive revenue growth with full P&L accountability across retention, expansion, pricing, and new customer acquisition.
- Serve as the primary executive relationship owner for key public sector clients, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction, retention, and contract renewal.
- Develop and deepen strategic partnerships with senior stakeholders across regional ministries and public management entities.
- Anticipate client needs and proactively identify opportunities to expand the company’s footprint within existing accounts.
- Identify and act on AI-driven opportunities to reposition the product and create durable competitive distance within public sector verticals.
Product & Technology
- Own the product roadmap at a strategic level, ensuring it reflects the needs of Spanish public-sector clients and the competitive dynamics of the HR/payroll SaaS market.
- Sponsor a credible AI roadmap. AI must be embedded as a genuine operational and product advantage, not a roadmap line item.
- Champion AI-first product thinking, identifying where automation, predictive insights, and intelligent workflows create durable differentiation for public sector clients.
Team & Operations
- Define and implement the company’s long-term strategy in collaboration with the Group’s portfolio management team.
- Oversee all financial performance, budgeting, and resource allocation to ensure sustainable profitability.
- Manage risk across operations, contracts, and market dynamics; respond decisively to changes in the competitive or regulatory landscape.
- Build and lead a high-performing leadership team, elevating talent density and making hard calls on underperformance with speed and directness.
- Establish decision rights, execution cadences, and accountability frameworks that make the business self-sustaining at a higher growth rate.
- Communicate clearly and proactively with Banyan Operating Partners on business performance, strategic priorities, and market conditions.
What We Are Looking For
The CEO we are looking for is a product-led vertical SaaS operator with deep roots in the Spanish public sector who leads with an AI-first mindset and is energized by the opportunity to create real, lasting business value. They have managed a founder transition, hold key client relationships personally, and build a commercial function where none existed. They have held senior executive responsibility at a software company serving public administrations, with a track record of treating product as a primary strategic lever, navigating public procurement environments at a senior level, and leading their organization through at least one meaningful inflection point before the market forced the change. They proactively reposition ahead of market pressure, make difficult product and talent decisions for the long-term health of the business, and understand how to grow recurring revenue and protect the retention that makes it durable. This is a value-creating enterprise SaaS leader who sees AI not as a feature but as a structural advantage embedded in how they build, operate, and create enduring competitive distance for the businesses they lead.
Qualifications for Success
- Owned the P&L of a B2B SaaS or vertical software business in Spain — direct accountability for revenue growth, retention, and margin expansion.
- 7–10+ years of senior leadership at a Spanish software or technology company, including direct responsibility for selling to, managing, or delivering to Spanish public administrations.
- Strategic credibility in Spanish public procurement (LCSP, licitaciones) — able to lead the most senior renewal and tender conversations personally, not delegate them.
- Has led an organisation through a meaningful inflection point: founder transition, pricing repositioning, or commercial professionalisation.
- Built or professionalised a commercial function in a small-to-mid-sized Spanish software business — no sales team, no pipeline, built from zero.
- Demonstrated AI conviction: shipped product capability, embedded operational tooling, or led sustained AI experimentation with clear conviction about where it creates durable value.
- Bilingual Spanish (native or near-native) and English (business-level) — both daily-ready.
- Based in or near Madrid; able to commit to 3–4 days per week on-site initially.
