About the Role
The Ancillary Services Staff plays a vital role in supporting the overall healthcare delivery by providing essential resident care services. This position is responsible for managing the ancillary supply inventory according to operational policies and procedures. The Ancillary Services Staff must be detail oriented and demonstrate ability to apply established procedures with a high degree of accuracy, responsibility, and confidentiality. Ultimately, this position ensures that residents receive the supplies needed to care for them that enhance their recovery and well-being.
Job Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Director of Nursing to assure sufficient and appropriate nursing supplies are available.
- Monitors supply inventory and reorders according to established procedures.
- Uses approved vendors and order guides when ordering supplies and follows established procedures to request new supplies/vendors.
- Check-in supply orders according to procedures.
- Follows system established to assure individual residents are billed for supplies used.
- Keeps supply storage area clean and orderly at-all-times.
- Stores supplies in the main storage room and restocks auxiliary supply areas/rooms on nursing units as needed.
- Organizes supplies inventory according to more recent date received, rotating old/new stock.
- Keeps an organized file of inventory records and orders.
- Cross-trains other staff as directed to serve as back up in case of absence.
- Notifies the Director of Nursing if missing inventory cannot be accounted for.

Minimum Qualifications
- Previous experience in healthcare or long-term care setting.
- Basic computer literacy to document resident information and communicate effectively.
- Ability to follow healthcare protocols and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.
